Smart Parts Ion Okay I may not know much about paintball but the Ion is one of the best guns I have ever used. I have played paintball for more than a year and I used to play with a spyder. The Ion is way better.

I bought mine from this forum as junk. Let me tell you, I made chicken salad out of chicken $h!t. Upgraded it to the best that money had to offer, and it does keep up with higher end markers. Just remember it only takes one ball to get you out!

Lightweight, and ease of upgradebility makes this, IMO a winning choice.

I have a number of other mid priced markers, but I have fun with the ION.

Just my .02 cents

appereance: this thing looks a bit beyond ugly! plastic everything!, even the feedneck is god awful.

performance: lol...what performance, balls go EVERYWHERE execpt other players unless u barrel tag, this gun is hopeless and its not worth the money to get all those cheezy upgrades

reliability: yeah....none whats so ever. out of the box its okay but then it all goes to hell pretty soon. and it leaks from everywhere...and everything is just really poorly made and thats why its so cheap =(

value: not at all worth the money! save up and get like an invert mini...at least the mini doesnt have this many problems

Pros: looks cool, low maintnence, good beginers gun
Cons: leaks, boards
i bought this gun used for 120 and at first it was a great gun, it shot great looked great and kept up with others using things like mini's, shocker's, and things like it, but because this gun is made to use an intergrated tank, u can choose to purchase an intergrated tank which is about $200, or adjust it, and when adjusting it it will often leak which gets anoying when after every match u have to do something to fix the leak. another major negative i have noticed about this gun is that the boards are horrible, they are very confusing to adjust things, aand after 3 months using my gun the board broke all together, and because smart parts closed down its very hard to find spare parts, so all in all i would not recomend this gun. but if u do decide to buy it be ready to waste all the money u thought u saved by buying this rather than a higher end gun on fixing this gun

Personally, I LOVE my ION, but they need essential upgrades if you really want it to perform like a higher end marker. Stock, they will also be perfect for a new player, and they can upgrade as they go through paintball.

Overall, great marker.

Pros: Light, cheap
Cons: Inefficient, slow
I bought one of the very first Ions to come out. I was shocked at how light it was and was very pleased with what I got for the cash I paid. The gun was pretty accurate even with the stock barrel, but not good enough to use only the stock barrel. The board limits the rate of fire to 17BPS, which seems high, but I felt like I could max it out without trying. The modes were smooth and easy to change unlike previous Smart Parts boards. The gun performed well on the field but seemed to have eye issues from time to time. I could never make the gun have eye issues if I tried, but sometimes it just didnt want to read paint. I blame the fact I got an early model, as Ions I have owned since have had no such issue. The gun was poor on air, and this is worth mentioning. Even an aftermarket bolt does little to help. Buy all day air!
