Being a budget baller, price is always a concern of mine, so when I found these on clearance, I decided to try them out.
My first impresses were very good. They felt comfortable, and were fairly easy to get on, even though when I had them on, they felt like they would hold on tight. I could walk around, jump kneel down, etc., and they didn't feel like they would come off. In fact, getting them off usually required a bit of work.
Protection wise they were great. I was able to drop to my knees without any discomfort what-so-ever.
As with many things that make great first impressions, sometimes not everything is as it seems. These pads are a perfect example. Despite working and feeling great off the field, once I got on the field, everything changed. Don't get me wrong, these did a great job of padding whatever they covered, the issue was that they often weren't in the same spot at the end of the game as there were at the start of the game. While they felt like they were almost glued-on off the field, they would not stay in place while on the field.
It may have been my specific body shape, and I know that it wasn't that I got the wrong size, because a size down would be way too tight (cutting off circulation), and a size up would be too loose (adding to the problem of not holding on). I also own a pair of the elbow pads, and they are perfect. I put them on at the beginning of the day, and at the end of the day, they are in the same exact spot. Their knee pads, however, just do not perform to the same aspect.
I would recommend these to back players who do not slide or dive much. For kneeing down, they're perfect. Great protection and comfortable, but sliding will just move them too much.
