Pros: Unique, eye catching, smooth
Cons: No company support,
I was browsing through local pawn shops and came across the Airstar Nova 700. As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to have it. After some bartering, I talked the owner down from his original price tag of $300, to a measly $20, by complaing about how I'd have to rebuilt the internals and didn't need the tanks and co2 tank. To my surprise, it aired up quite nicely and needed little work to get back to peak performance.

The Nova is one of my favorite mech markers to use for recball when I feel like weirding out the other players, or when I get into a jokey behavoir. Locally it has become known as the 'Lady Pleaser" .

A truly innovative marker. There is no bolt. It has no bolt. Instead, there is an internal barrel that cocks back into position when aired, blocking the breach and stopping any leaks. As it shoots, it moves forward, allowing a ball to enter and then closing itself back again.

Pros:
- Unique. You won't see many people with a marker like this on the field often. Be ready to hear a lot of 'Wtf is that?!" when you walk to the air station with it.

- Extremely smooth. Some local people have called it the "Bloop gun" because it sound like a quiet 'Bloop' everytime it's fired.

Cons:
- Airstar is gone, so don't expect help. Luckily ZDSPB and other websites have schematics, so you can break it down and fix any issues.

Final Words: A great marker for a day of fun. When you're ready to get a good laugh from the other players, this is a great marker to use.

Airstar Nova 700 The Nova line in general was very innovative in its design. It was the world's first totally pneumatic paintball marker...even the trigger was pnuematic. The Nova 700 came is a cool 'heavenly body'...

Pros: Quiet, efficient
Cons: size, lack of support
The Nova line in general was very innovative in its design. It was the world's first totally pneumatic paintball marker...even the trigger was pnuematic. The Nova 700 came is a cool 'heavenly body' ano pattern that was real sharp. Stock it had a built in regulator, molded gripframe, 95psi operation and an articulating barrel.

That aside, lets get to the good stuff...

Performance - It runs with an extremely efficient spool valve design(which I think was the first marker to use a spooler) and functioned very well on co2 and HPA. The pnuematic trigger is a slider, not a traditional hinge design and with some practice, you can get into a very fast rythm with it. It is a large marker and somewhat heavy, but not uncomfortable and pretty well balanced. Oh, and these are QUIET. I mean very, very quiet. It ran at 95 psi and was very consistant shot ot shot. They also use an intersting barrel design. It articulates so there is no bolt, so to speak. This makes it extremely accurate, proabbly the most accurate marker I've ever used.

Reliability - There really isn't much to these markers. It's just a couple pieces and a bunch of orings. I've had a few over the years and the only problem I've had were oring related. Not a hard fix at all BUT some of the orings are odd shaped, and you might not be able to find them at your local hardware store.

Cons - Lack of support, there is no more Airstar. Also the Orings are odd sized and not super easy to locate. The only other thing is the size, it is a BIG marker.

Overall - It's a great marker that was super innovative in the day and it paved the way for the matrix and other spoolers. A very nice head turner to take to the local woodsball field.

This is the only company in the world that had a moving barrel that functioned as the firing mechanism. They were accurate and very fast easily able to keep up with most tournaments.

The sad fact remains that the company that manufactured these guns no longer exists. The issue that broke the company was that a piece of the regulator just below the barrel would break and vent all the air out of your tank. One or two people were injured which took the company down. If you can find a functioning gun from this line, I would buy one in a heart beat. Just be ready to make repairs and services on your own as no gun tech these days will know anything about how these guns work.
