I have owned 2 dm8's. Both I received broken, but I knew this already. Both had similar problems and both had to go to dye to get fixed. They seem to leak and have problems with the bolt itself.
When the gun works correctly it shoots amazing, smooth, and accurate.

Ok, the dm8 is an incredible gun all around. I tend to like spool-valves because of the shot. Smooth, quiet, and accurate. For starters, dye headquarters is 15 minutes away from where i live, therefore making it very convenient for me to stop by if i ever have a problem with my gun. I've shot dye guns for 4 years, and i must say dye always comes out with a "hit" marker. Unlike other spool valves like luxes, they aren't a "hit" or "miss", dye guns always work perfect AS LONG AS YOU MAINTAIN THEM. It is very important that any dye gun owner cleans and lubes there bolt after every day of play. People complain that dye guns don't shoot well or break, it's because they don't maintain their gun every week. If you clean the gun everytime, it will never disappoint. I personally have not minded cleaning and maintaining my guns at all, which made it so i would never have a crappy shooting dye gun. The only downfall on dye guns is the air efficiency, but that is expected in a spool valve. The thing i love most about these guns are that you can put the worst of paint through it, and it will still shoot it accurately. I had a vicious ego 10 for awhile, and everytime i put white box paint or walmart paint through it, first 5 shots would be chops. I've owned several P.E. markers and all have done this. Bottomline, dye really takes the cake when it comes to an all around great marker.

Very smooth, like all dms. I have had a problem with the LPR, leaks from the rear of the grip frame. I found these to be common with dm8 in particular. Fortunately I sent the gun to Dye. For a very minimal, cost,,they repaired the issue. Dye has a lifetime fan with me.

The Dm8 is an amazing marker. Have a billy wing bolt and a tadao board and it shoots like a dream! It requires very high maintenance, but that's just because it's a spool... Definitely worth the price. I would give it a 9/10 as an overall gun, with regards to price.

I had an 2008 Damage DM8 and it was probably one of the best guns I have ever owned. I loved using it in the cold and it could take a beating in the rain.
The only dislike was cleaning and lubing because it required a full strip down unlike an ego where you can just pop the bolt out and go.
This gun was a great back-up once it became a tad dated but still one of the few guns I kept even once it was not being used.

I have owed a few different DM8s and I have loved them all. They have always been very reliable for me, they take care of you if you take care of them. Very smooth when tuned right and broken in. Also one of the most consistent guns you can get. Mine have always been +/-1 even with practice paint.

The DM8 was one of the best guns produced. The milling is sexy and unique, although it did add some extra metal on top which leads to to fairly top heavy compared to other guns.
The DM8 has an eye-pipe that is made to allow the eyes to continue to scan the chamber in the event of a break. This was developed by NXL teams when full auto was allowed. At these high rates of fire it was common for it to happen, before the PSP ROF drop. The pros use to cut part of a garden hose and place them in the barrel, Dye took that idea and put it in this DM8. The eye pipes do crack if you don't know how to put them in properly, but are cheap and easy to do if you read the manual.
The high rate of fire on the DM8 is amazing even with the basic board. Some manufacturers will require that you put a better board to make it shoot well, which is true with most guns. But the stock board is still effective and well made. It allows you to control every aspect of the gun firing. From ROF, Dwell, PSP/NPPL, response, etc.
The kick on the gun is very minimal. As with any LPR gun you must find the right combination between reg and LPR to get the best efficiency, ROF, kick and chrono speed.
The work you put in to the gun, which means research on the manual and proper maintenance of the gun will be repaid to you. There is no need for a second gun when owning this DM8. It will work as long as you clean it.
