Dye Precision Dye Matrix 8 (DM8)Bought this from a local seller and never had problems with it. Shot ball on ball most of the day. Did alright with poor paint or poor conditions. Would recommend to other buyers.

So after a long vacation from the Matrix genre, I decided that I wanted to give them another try. I traded my 08 Ego for my Dm8, and I'm very surprised and happy to say: I'll never look back.
Looks: Dye has a reputation for good looking markers. The Dm8 is no exception. Smooth lines, a nice flowing body style, and internal eyes make the Dm8 a beautiful gun.
Performance: It shoots very well. The biggest thing that I noticed coming from an Ego was the lack of noticeable kick, as well as a very quiet sound signature. This is a welcome change from the Ego, which gives away your field position every time it fires. Groupings are tight with the stock barrel, but the Dm8 is Autococker threaded, so other barrel options are definitely available. The regulator is very consistent, and delivers stellar performance once broken in and tuned.
Efficiency: Not good. It's a spool valve marker, so this is to be expected. I would not go so far as to say that it is awful, but it could definitely stand improvement.
Maintenance: Not very difficult. Involves taking out the fuse Bolt system, cleaning, lubricating and then putting it back in. That takes care of your basic maintenance needs. Now the eyes and detents are another story. The eye system on the Dm8 is completely internal, with no exterior parts like eye covers. This is nice on one hand, but troublesome on the other. The eyes are advertised as being self-cleaning, a claim I have yet to test. In short, the first few times you have to service the Eyes/eyepipe, will be slightly irritating, but once you get used to it you will be able to do it quickly.
Value:Actually quite good. As the DM9, DM10, NT are being released, the DM8 offers rival performance for a fraction of the cost. Buying one used can save you a lot of money, but still provide you with a tournament quality marker.
Conclusion: I do a lot of research before I purchase or trade for a marker. On the whole, I really like the DM8. It feels like a very high quality marker, and it performs well on the field. Add the fact that it is relatively cheaper than the DM9, with almost the exact performance and you come up with a nice package. I would recommend the DM8 to anyone, I'll be keeping mine for a while.

The DM8 is a very reliable gun. It has not gone down on me and I use it every weekend. It is a very simple gun to take care of. Just simple lube the bolt, change the battery and you're golden. One upgrade I recommend is the billy wing bolt and the ironmen trigger. It was make the gun shoot and feel so much better.
