I've had my fair share of markers but I always wanted a DM so finally I purchased one and I must say it was exactly what I thought it would be and that is: awesome!

I was shooting egos before this (ego7, sl66, 06 ego) and after getting to play with this, I definetly like the DM more. The UL frame is the most comfortable frame that I've held. The gun is quiet, noticeably more so than my egos. Today, for example, I was playing in a 15+ acre "jungle" field and I saw 3 ppl just walking about 75-100 ft from me. I waited until they were in the open and then I opened up on them. I got 2 of them (ran outta paint) but after the game I spoke to them and none of them said they saw me or heard me. I know if I was using my ego, they would have heard my shots.

The marker shoots incredibly fast, faster than I can pull the trigger and thus, I don't really care if it can't do 30 bps or whatnot. With my critical trigger on there, I can rip it very fast, probably around 15-17 bps on semi (on a REALLY good day).

The hyper3 does a good job and I don't see the need to replace it except if you find its free swiveling macroline fitting annoying. I haven't really noticed it while I play so I don't have a problem with it. Today I had a 279-284-284 reading and that's good enough for me.

The UL barrel it comes with is fantastic. The back is .693 and I personally don't fully believe in "paint/bore" matching so I find that this is all I need.

The DM8 style detents are annoying though. As soon as you pull the sleeve out of the gun, the magnetic detents shoot out. However, for 20 bucks you can get a DM9 sleeve and it solves the problem. The only other problem that I can forsee a person having is air consumption. Since its a spoolie, it uses more air than poppit-style guns. For me personally though, I got about 4 pods and a hopper on 2500 psi and I just refill after the game so the effeciency isn't a problem for me, but it can be if you don't have access to air and you want to shoot a lot of paint.

As far as maintenance goes, just follow the manuals instructions and if that isnt' enough, there are plenty of videos online of how to properly maintain your marker. I'm kinda obsessed with my guns so I'll thoroughly clean them and re lube them, even if they don't need it and thus, I don't mind the "extra" work in dealing with this gun over my egos.

Overal, I'd say this gun is fantastic. All of the things that you find annoying fly out the window as soon as you see that first string of paint fly from your barrel (esp if that string lands on someone else).

I love DM's, and this may come across a little biased, but they just seem to be the perfect gun for me. They have always been super smooth when properly tuned, and I have always been able to get enough pods off of a 68/45 with them (anywhere from 6-9 pods).

I prefer them over the NTs because of the ability to adjust the LPR to either set the gun up to run superrr smoooothly or to run a little more efficiently. I personally have not seen an issue that couldn't be fixed by cleaning the gun (and replacing an oring). I've owned over 35 DM's and have NEVER had to replace a solenoid, all the heresay about blowing solenoids is crap. I would recommend these guns to anyone and everyone as they are going cheap on the used market and all shoot like a dream.

Cons: Appearance, weight
I love my DM8. I have had it for the last 3 years and have been in heaven. I shoot other high end guns daily and i still always want to return to my DM. It feels amazing in the hands and is just comfortable to no end. When i use good paint i feel with one with this marker and can just one ball all day and get people out. This gun is more durable than any Eclipse in my opinion because it is so well built that any diving or anything you do to it will not even make it flinch. I have known dozens of dye users who have never once messed up their marker unlike other companies whom i have heard durability isnt all there. Sure, the DM8 feels heavier but once you start playing it weighs nothing because it feels so nice when its in your hands and shot. The Trigger is fantastic! You wont have to go get an aftermarket trigger and i have friends with all other types of markers and triggers and they always obsess over my stock trigger being the nicest thing they have shot. Sure, the appearance isnt all that great but the performance stacks up and having the eye pipe inside is a dream!!

It is easy to use/adjust and amazing to shoot. I am sold as a DM user for life.

Pros: Everything
Cons: A few parts because of personal preferences
I have had this gun a year and put at least 200-250 cases through it. The Stock board is exceptional but because of personal preferences I Virtued it. Consistancy is great, I was getting about 1100 to 1200 rounds on my 68/45 untuned stait out of the box. When the new Billy Wing DM9 bolt/can came out I got it and after tuning every little aspect to squeeze out every last shot. Now I get about 1500 to 1600 depending on temp. The frame is fonominal, its comfortable in the hand for long periods of play. The grips on the frame and the reg are soft and just the right amount of stickyness enough to grip perfectly even in the rain. The stock eyes worked perfectly, no need to change them at all, except for personal preferences. So I slapped some Virtue laser eyes in them for that same reason. The entire time the stock eyes were in, about 15 cases, only had barrel breaks (rain) nothing in the breech. The reg is nice and small. Super easy to adjust and maintain. Same thing with the LPR. I have this beauty tuned so nice there's not even the slightest kick. A lot of people have a grudge agianst the trigger, personally it better on this frame than any other trigger I can find. The eye pipe is a treat, the "self cleaning" design is exceptional and the lack of eye plates make the milling look beautiful, Although I did have a problem keeping up with the detents as I cleaned it so as soon as the DM9 eye pipe was available, I snatched it up. No more detent problems now. The on/off plug is a little unessecary I just leave it turned on. Also the on/off asa is wonderful, its a little hard to turn on and off at first, just add a little oil and your ready to go. The elbow fittings are great, just traded them out for black Ninja elbows for asthetic reasons. Over all this gun is AMAZING. Its great out of the box, and with a few upgrades this bird will sing forever. 100 out of 10.

The DM8 is not the smallest gun out there but, out of the box there is not much you need to do if you want to really throw paint. I played every weekend for a month, then I added a Virtue board and a curved trigger system that had a magnet kit in it. After that the shop I worked at would let me play anymore because I was scaring away the customer. The marker is amazing, and I will say this the tools don’t make that player, the player makes the tools, but this is one hell of a tool!!!

A few months ago I was at Doodlebug Sportz and was looking forward to purchasing my new marker. I looked around the gun racks and the DM8 caugt my eye. The way it flowed and the beauty is amazing at first sight. I settled on the Cobalt to black fade.

When I got the marker to my house, I opened it up and read the manual (ya, i actually read them sometimes) before breaking it down. First I messed with the board. It's very simple to understand and adjustments are easy and quick to make. I also took out the bolt to make sure everything was perfect and ready out of box. The anno on the gun was flawless, no pitching, no scratches at all.

When I first shot it I noticed that even straight out of the box there was almost no noticable kick. I continued to dry fire and then decided to run some paint through. Before I shot paint I adjusted the UL frame. The UL is something else. The pull is so smooth and the frame feels so natural in your hand. It's not all boxy like other frames, it's curved to fit your hand. I shot some rounds on semi and then decided to switch over to psp. The gun shot ropes at 18 bps goldwaved which is good enough for me.

On the field the DM8 is incredible. I played in 40* weather and had no FSDO at all. The only complaint that I had was that my airport leaked. I just took it apart and put on an o-ring from the small parts kit included in the box and it was all good though. The dm8 is noticably light as you carry it around and is easy to snap with and just to move around in general.

So far I have put over 5 cases through the gun and have only had 1 chop the entire time. The one chop happend in the snow in 30* weather so you can make of that what you will. After constantly shooting the gun, It gets smoother and smoother as it gets worked in. It's like a fune wine, getting better and better with age.

Bottom Line: The DM8 is light, fast, smooth, easy to maintain contrary to popular belief, and good on paint. I really don't know what else you'd want in a marker but I'm sure the DM8 will be the perfect marker for you.

Pros: Light, More efficient than pre-DM7, Consistent
Cons: Price
Consistency: Very consistent on the first day of use, didnt really even have to break it in to get good consistency.

Efficiency: about 5 pods and hopper with 48/45 filled to 4k. Not broken in completely

Quiet! Like every other spool...seemed quieter than my droid or maybe just a different sound signature.

No kick whatsoever but thats what you come to expect from a spool

Hyper3 is very comfy to grip and has been consistent over the chrono

Trigger: side to side play but hasnt affected how fast the gun can shoot (maybe upgrade to critical if you like the style better)

Eye system: Its really not as bad as some say or make it out to be, you have to do it a few times to get used to it and after awhile it was fairly easy to do. It was raining this past weekend when I used it and had no issues with the eyes. Perfectly clean inside the breech, possibly because of the lack of eye covers.
