We have re-designed our GP series of pads to do what is needed they will keep your knees and elbows from getting trashed as you slide into those snake positions.

I got these pads at the NCPA Nationals event in 2008. The exterior of the pad is made of kevlar giving it strength when sliding on rough surfaces. The pad itself is made up of Memory foam that, after awhile, does start to conform to your arm. The thumb loop is nice and prevents the pad from sliding up on a dive, but I can see it bothering some people, its a matter of personal preference.
i've had trouble with the upper arm velcro being a bit short, and there are some sharp corners that need to be cut. The pad doesn't really articulate well, especially when bending your arm. I think this is due to the kevlar outside which doesn't allow much stretch. Also, after a year, the pads still leave black marks on my skin.
Rugged, durable product. More likely better for a snake player that is constantly diving on all sorts of surfaces - definitely will survive abuse. Not a back player's best friend - though I've gotten bounces off it. Overall decent product but research alternatives.

I bought these a few months ago and haven't looked back since. They definately do the trick, dives and slides are barely felt. There's enough padding to make superman dives over the snake a little more pleasant, and the pads DON'T slip at all, up or down. There's this gel stuff on both ends, that grip your skin and don't let the pads slip at all, very nice feature.
One thing I did notice, is that when you bend your elbow, a little bit of the padding kinks, and sticks out just slightly.. this isn't bad, as the padding is plenty flexible and is somewhat pre-formed... but I would like to to see maybe a little cut out to keep the sides of the bend from sticking out.
Overall I think these things are great, fit under your clothing and are VERY comfortable

Empire GP Elbow Pads SEBefore everyone starts bashing me about wearing these; no it's not to avoid paintball impact, it's all for sliding. Ok now that that's cleared up, onto the review.

Appearance - 5 stars: Well......... They're under my jersey............ There's not to much to say..........
Performance - 5 stars: I would give it 15 if I could. I don't know what these other guys are talking about, like the guy that scraped his arm (no offense intended to him by the way; if you're that guy and you have a problem with it, let me know and I'll take this part off) but I don't know how that happened because I got a brick chimney which is gonna do a lot worse than any ground can and I put these things on, walked up to it, hit my arm against it as hard as I could, didn't feel a thing.
Reliability - 5 stars: Well they haven't let me down yet.
Value - 4 stars: Well I never give anything 5 stars in this category because.......... well simply because it's not free. So 4 stars is the best your gonna get outta me in this category if that tells ya anything.
Pros
Great protection - I'll just copy what the performance said for you.
Cons
A little hard to get used too - They can be a little stiff in the beginning but you'll get them worked in.
Overall this is a great product.

probably the best pads i've ever used so far, it takes a while for the fabric to stretch out and adjust with your arm size, but i'd say about an hour or two later, you barely notice them being on you. very useful for break-blocking, sliding, and very rough dives...as far as using them with gloves, sometimes they can interfere, depending on the fabric and texture of your glove (if you even use gloves), especially with few makes of the Reds gloves, (because of the palm extension on their gloves). other than that a very well designed product from Empire....very trustworthy
