The Apex barrel allows the player to add adjustable backspin or sidespin to the paintball. This spin imparts a variety of curves to the ball making previously impossible shots possible.
The APEX installs easily as a standard barrel.

I have owned this for years(came with a marker). I used it some, but i dont like it. The apex system sounded neat but found it disappointing. While it did curve the ball, most of the time a simple move to the side would have done the job. Adjusting the barrel when your playing gets annoying. I found it would curve the ball when i didnt want it to do so.
I also had more ball breaks... a lot more than i got with my stock 12" barrel.
All in all the barrel WORKS it does what it says. But i believe that $50 could get a better barrel.

Once you learn how to use this barrel, it is GREAT for woodsball/recball. Outside of that, it is not meant to be. Most people say they expected too much, but it is because they have not mastered the technique in using it. You can’t just shoot and expect balls to just go directly to your target. There is a technique and skill in this, and it must be mastered to get the most out of your APEX.

I have one on my Ironhorse and Delta Elite. It does what the manufacters advertise. it puts a backspin on the ball to make it go strait or curve. I personally have used it in the up position 99% of the time.Seldom do you have time to adjust it while under fire. Where this product really shines is in woodsball. Under the canopy of dense trees. In the forest where i am from, the tree branches get real thick at about 6 to 8 feet up. you can see a long way under the tree branches. if some opponants are bout 80 feet away, you would have to aim up in the tree branches to lob a shot to hit them. with the apex, you fire under the tree braches. this give you the ability to hit them and they cant touch you.
I havent had allot problems with paint breaks in the barrel, but when it happens, you balls are all over the place!!! it is not very accurate at long range. if in an open area, I would rather use my two piece barrel. its more accurate and queiter .....

Traded off an extra Ultralight for my Apex, just to try it out. It sat in my gearbag until I played at Sherwood's Axis & Allies game. While running my Darq, I ran a medium-backspin adjustment on the Apex almost exclusively. While it was MUCH louder than the Freak I normally run, I also had just about double the range. Giving up some accuracy due to the "float" of the balls wasn't too bad with the wall of paint I was generally laying out, and the balls had a lot more reach, far beyond anything a conventional barrel could offer. I did also have one "shoot around a corner" experience with the barrel. An opponant was tucked into his building, I turned my gun sideways and sent a few shots his way. The balls arced just enough to defeat his use of cover. It can happen, but it's not something that can be reliably repeated.
