The Vintage Trix is a bit on the heavy side but you will be hard pressed to find a gun that shoots as smooth with as little kick as it does

ok first off any time you break out this gun at a field everyone loves it, its old school and people love to see that stuff. but the gun is honestly one of the smoothest most reilable guns i have ever owned/ shot. if they could make a gun just like it but smaller i would be in heaven( i own a pm7 and its smoothness is nothing to this). i wouldn't recommend buying one of these because you can get something way more practical for the same amount of money. its way to big and the technology is out dated. but a fun gun to own

Pros: Shoots lasers
Cons: Weight, Air Efficiency
Bought this about a year ago at NPPL boston and have no regrets. If little heavy, but when tuned right shoots like a dream and haven't had it break down on me yet.

Looks: A bit plain, with simple milling and simple anno (dust black). Annos is starting to wear out in the backplate area. Nicknamed "The Brick" by my teammates.

Performance: Slight kick, but the weight of the marker kinda makes it unnoticeable. Shoots laser for me (hyper 2 and FGP lpr).

Reliability: The only thing I've had to do is lube the bolt after every tourney and change the battery.

Value: For the price I paid, I would rather have had this than a new Ion or Vs2

I had one of these beasts for a couple weeks and it was so much quieter than my ego7 (most things are). These guns are pretty much worth their price so if your a player on a budget and want a matrix, get one of these. You might want a large tank though.

I picked one of these up in 2004, and at the time it was a great marker. Since then the PB world has gone crazy for smaller/lighter markers, and now Dye has a much bigger selection of mid to high end markers. So to try and be fair I will try to rate it objectively and not compare it to the markers out now.

The matrix is a great all around marker with specific advantages being quietness and speed. Also the LCD display privides extra funtionality allowing you to monitor rate of fire, time elapsed, and total shots fired (not to mention the display says POW every time you pull the trigger).

Overall I would say this is an excellent marker that set the stage for the current lineup of Dye markers, but due to the lack of available upgrades and recent advancement in paintball markers I wouldn't recommend getting one.

Cons: efficency, older, orings can be intimidating first
I have owned close to 20 matrixs all the way from gen e led, to an entity, an ironman, and everything in between. I keep coming back to them because they are very cheap, and very good quality. All it takes is a little research in the vintage forums, and you will know everything you need to tech the gun. I highly suggest this gun for new players, players looking for a good deal, or players looking for a back up

Owned several. With the right setup, the guns will not move a single millimeter when fired. The guns arent super efficient, but with the right tuning they can be made to be. Constant maintenance is a must in order to prevent leaks of any sort. Retuning the regulators each time you play is a pain. For the low price you pay, theyre solid backups.
