Kingman Group - Spyder Xtra Reviews
Kingman Group Spyder Xtra This marker is decent for a once a year paintball outing. other than that the gun sucks. It chops balls constantly, it is inaccurate, and it is loud. i think a jackhammer is quieter than a spyder.

honestly one of the funnest markers i ever had, this was the first marker i started playing with and i had a blast with it, even with not knowing how to maintain it properly or take care of it it still always shot like a lazer and worked great. its simpleness was very refreshing and still to this day 7 years later i still pull it out and use it from time to time over my newer high tech markers.

I got the Spyder Xtra new when they first came out, and I was more than pleased with it, definitely the best mechanical Spyder I've had or seen. This gun shoots really good for a mechanical gun. It is kinda loud though, but not as loud as some Spyders. And it did break a sear spring on me, which I replaced, but other than that, no issues at all. I've never broken a ball with it, but I've only put three or four cases through it.
To conclude, if you are looking to get a mechanical marker, I would highly recommend this.

Pros: nearly impossible to break,
Cons: stock barrel, dovetail, feedneck
Ok, so I've had my Spyder Xtra since the thing came out in 2005 and I'm at the point where I don't know if I ever want to get anything else. Most people wouldn't put any upgrades, but I was out-shooting the mechanical trigger and bolt setup (not hard, trust me) so I got the rocking frame and ACS. You really don't need a speed upgrade for the Xtra though, unless you are obsessive about covering teamates with volume fire (guilty as charged). My major qualms with the stock setup are the stock barrel, the dovetail, and the feed neck. The stock barrel usually ends up somehow curving to such a degree that you end up missing by more than a few feet when at even mid-range. The dovetail isn't too much of a hindrance, because you can remove it easily. However, if you wish to keep it on, you might want to sand it down because I've had at least 3 people use my Xtra and get pretty nasty cuts from the dovetail. Finally, the feedneck needs a plastic extender, so it is the only thing on the Marker that absolutely NEEDS changing in order for the whole thing to work correctly.

Overall, I'd say Kingman did well in the durability category, since my brother threw my Xtra against a brick wall at one point (because of loosing an argument), and I ended up using the same Xtra later in the day with no visible detriments (other than the scratches from the impact). This is a great starter for people who want to ease into the sport, and maybe don't have the take-it-apart-and-fix-it know how or orientation.

Pros: easy to clean reliable rugged
Cons: hopper needs offset feed neck
Me and my brother got this for my dad years and years ago. I remember us with out tippmanns trooping out into the woods to toss the old man, he ended up taking us both out in under a min.
Marker rarely requires cleaning, still operated and even looks like new. Its very light

The hopper can get in the way, i suggest a 90 for the feed neck, then hold the marker slightly tilted to the side... you will notice improved accuracy this ways as well we noticed. Im not sure why , but you will. I would also pick up a different barrel. We have a carbon fiber 14" barrel and it works superb.

This gun has lasted forever, and is a great starter gun, or good for just having fun!

I also reccomend after one year to upgrade because this gun is not very reliable it's not very fast. Overall ok gun. Very good if your a beginner.

Pros: Price, Reliable, Ease of Care/Maintenance
Cons: Accuracy
I purchased the 2009 Spyder Xtra.
My reason for choosing this gun was because of the care and maintenance of the gun for my first gun.

I used it for the first on 11/10/12 and out of over 1000 balls I only had 2 chops and 0 breaks. However, the barrel was easy to clean on the field of play and I was back in the game quickly.

I actually cleaned the gun the next day and like a said before the care and maintenance is easy. I just removed the barrel, the delrin pin, and the mechanics; cleaned the gun and had it back together with in 10 minutes or less.

Pros: Cons:
The Price Accuracy (range of about 2 feet
Care of Maintenance around my target)
Reliable Not very quiet (however, not that
loud either)

Take away:
For this being my first gun into the sport and the price this is a great gun. It may not be the best starter gun out there, but I have no problems with it. I would recommend this gun to a first time buyer.
