ICD Freestyle(2nd gen)

Looks - clean milling, nice annoe. I think it's pretty good looking, but looks are a personal preference.

Feel - although it looks like it would be front heavy due to the location of the feedneck, with a hooper and tank it's actually a VERY well balanced marker and is very comfortable to handle.

Regs - the stock hp reg was actually very consistant. I was chroning +-4 out of the box and after a case of paint I redialed in at +-2. It took about a case for the regs to break in but after I rebalanced the regs at the lunch break at Resident Evil, they were great. The LPR is pretty big, I might replace the regs with AKA regs down the line, but the stock ones performed fine.

Maintenance
- Pretty simple design here, one screw allows you to remove the entire bolt assembly for lube and oring replacement. What sucks is that you need to do this after every time you play as it has a lot of orings and 4 seperate parts to the bolt assembly that, if not lubed properly, will leak like an s.o.b.. Also, the regs should be re-balanced before each days play.

Performance - Here I was both impressed and dissapointed at the same time. As far as how the marker actually shoots paint I can honestly say it is the smoothest shooting marker and one of, if not the fastest, I've ever owned. It's rediculously fast and has virtually no kick. I am having issues with the eyes however, so I had shot over a case and a half with the eyes off. I was shooting with a Vlocity jr and I outshot it twice in the first mission which effectively took me out of the action for 2-3 minutes while I cleaned the breech...it's THAT fast. The eyes were a wiring issue and have since been resolved. Now the dissapointment...efficiency. I used a 68/45k lp tank and was running on empty after a hopper and 4 pods. Now I have a stock bolt kit, but ICD corrected this issue with a HE bolt kit in the model that followed this one. I just found one for $15 so I'll update the efficiency then.

Overall I love it a. It's an awesome shooter but you NEED all day air to enjoy it if you don't have an HE kit. Also it's not for a lazy 'baller, because you will need to thoroughly clean and lube the bolt assembly after play if you expect to keep it running.

Pros: I love everything about this marker
Cons: People have user issues and blame the gun
I bought my 04 gen 2 freestyle in early 05 and havent used any other marker since. I purchased the HR1 bolt (Hawks bolt) for it. I also have a CP reg and a STD JDS lpr. Stock feedneck and stock on/off. It was a little rough to start but once I learned to balance the regs and got the bolt upgrade I haven't had any issues with it since. I love how it shots and feels. It keeps up with all other high end markers as far as bps. I have used my teammates egos, timmys, and smart parts markers but I always go back to my freestyle. I couldn't imagine buying anyother gun and it be this good for $400. I did put about $300 or so into it but it still has well worth the money.

I purchased this marker(the '05 model) used in '06, and was very happy with what I got. Despite being a bit of an Air hog (when coming from a 4x4 nothing compares), it was an overall joy to play with. Layout of the gun is perfect and fits right in to my hands. This marker gave me very little problems as I knew exactly what to expect. I wouldn't recomend this to the plug and play type people because it can be hard to maintain if you dont know what to do. I will own this gun till the day I die, it is a joy to play with and always works perfectly.

I have had 2 freestyles and never once had a problem people who dont know how to lube there gun ir nething else about freestyles end up screwing them up there not hard to understand you just need to take the time to figure out how they work. These guns are wayyyyyyyyy underated and people blame the fact that its not timmy and the dont just have to lube a ram and they dont know how to work on them and they fail thats why people think there bad guns but there really not at all.

I bought my Freestyle 2 years after they were released. When it was working, the gun was a terrible air hog, inconsistent, and would frequently break down. Anytime I would try and call ICD to get some assistance, I would get transferred around until I was told it would be easier for me to send my gun in, pay to have it checked over, and then see how much it would cost to repair it.

Hello,

I have played paintball for around 4 years, I have owned many guns and I wish I never owned a Freestyle. These guns are always a pain in the butt. They never work properly, always chop paint, constantly need to change parts, and are all over the chrono. I had my freestyle for about 2 weeks when it first broke, then from that day on It was a never ending problem. After around 3 months of this gun not working, I GAVE it away, YES GAVE it away. Thats how bad it was. The thing didnt shoot straight no matter what bolt, barrel, or what else i did to it. It never once gave me a good day of paintball. And because All of this happend to me, I give this gun a F-

Im sure some people out there love freestyles and play with them alot. Me personally I will never get one agian. So before you go and buy a freestyle PLEASE PLEASE do a little more research!!

I owned this marker for a fair bit of time, and was very unhappy with it's performance. Apart from the fact that it rarely worked, the few times it would work, the performance was part at best with other markers in it's price range. My 2k4 Freestyle was the most unreliable marker I have ever owned and I would strongly suggest to stay away from Freestyles. I spent more time on the sidelines with my FS then I did playing with it.

I bought this marker because it was light and used by a team I liked at the time (Naughty Dogs). When it came it had horrible maching marks all over the body. I was fairly concerned to say the least. I then went to swap out the crappy ASA for my CP ASA and found one of the bottomline screws was stripped. Another issue. Then I finally go to try and shoot it and the marker refuses to chrono above 200FPS or shoot more than 3BPS. After talking extensively with Greg, I just sent it in. When it came back, all issues were still there but the stripped hole was helicoiled. So I immediately sold the gun just to get rid of it. Worst gun ever.
