O.k this is a good gun for beginners and beginners only. I have played for 5 years and have had this gun for almost a year and I have to list the pros and cons.

This is all the pros only 3
PROS:
.Small
.Compact
.Reasonably Priced

CONS:
.NO FEEDNECK you would think that when you spend 225$ for a paintball gun you would get a locking feedneck.

.Blows o-rings like no tomarrow almost every time you shoot it and it might not seem that way in the beginning but wait 3 months and it gets to be hell.

.You end up spending all of your time fixing it then playing with it, and I don't know about you but I would like palying with it then fixing it all the time.

.In order to make the gun lighter and make it shoot faster it takes upgrades and in the end add up all the upgarde prices and it will be more than the gun so really your getting ripped off so just buy another gun that is better like the proto slg for example its cheap and its way better.

.Heaviness is a factor with this gun. If you compare other guns that are cheaper this gun ways more than all of them.

.Bolt cover, if you take the bolt out and screw it back in and if the groves are not alined just right it will screw your gun up. Thats because the grooves are so friggin small and thats a 70$ issue if that happens.

.Hose, always leaks and if you are trying to save money you can't be taking this into the shop after every game you play.

.Regulator, holds extra air and you have to dry fire in order to get it all out and if you don't it will screw up your regulator seals and we all know how much a regulator is its like 70 for a custom products one.

That is my review of the ion xe, in this economy you have to try and save money and this is not a money saver. WORST GUN EVER SMART PARTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!! WHAT WERE YOU GUISE THINKING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

Every body stay the f**** away from smart parts.

Pros: Fast, medium weight, strong, cheap, accurate
Cons: reliability, leaking, stock trigger
Bought my Ion XE off PBN a year ago, loved it. It came with a CP claming feedneck and reg. I got it, and the cool things aboue Ions is you can never stop upgrading them.. a year later and i have virtue, freak kits, upgraded body and UL frame.. I dumped a lot of money into this gun. Definitely my favorite upgrade was the Techt L7 bolt.. gun has absolutely no kick. Its an awesome gun, my main gun. The only (cons) problems with it right now is for some reason every time i take it out to play the trigger pops out of adjustment, easy fix i think. And the stock trigger will break definitely, so upgrade that. And a lot of them leak too... but al in all a 4/5 gun

I got this for christmas, Love it at first but with over time i hated it. One day it just completely sucked so bad that I just said ''screw it" because it was not matching my speedball capabilities and got on eBay and bought a brand new Dye Matrix 2010 with a rotor for $800 and it shot great, light weight, no kick, consistent shot, extremely quiet (practically silent). So FIVE STARS to the dye matrix not that piece of crap Ion XE

This is a great 2nd marker once you are ready to move up from a low end mechanical or cheap electronic and don't want to spend the money for something like an ETEK. It is also great if you want to upgrade as you can afford more. When I first got the ION XE it was a vast improvement over my 98 ACT. My only complaints were the consistency of my shots. I was getting up to a 10-20 fps variation per shot. After I put in a new bolt and a qev, the shot to shot variation dropped to 1-2 fps. This is with a Freak barrel kit so I am not sure what the stock barrel gives.

In short, if you can afford something better or already plan on upgrading get that instead of the ION XE. Otherwise if this is what you can afford now, get it and upgrade over time with a TectT bolt, 360 QEV, locking feedneck, and Freak barrell kit.

I use this for woodsball and scenarios but you could probably also use it for rec speedball.
