Pros: Cheap, reliable.
Cons: Side feed.
Bought this used as a project gun, a project i never got around to doing and eventually sold it as-is. Don't think it was the Java version, though, but no reason to add a new product when "Java" simply meant "foregrip included."

Much like many of the older mech spyders, this was nice & reliable. A good beater for recball and in my case, very cheap.

Never a fan of side feeds, though. Elbows are never all that great and never felt the need to be able to see directly above the gun.

I'm going for a long review on this one.

The spyder compact has a special place in my heart. After all it was my first paintball marker. I got this gun for my 15th birthday and i still have, most of, it. Heck I even still take it out and play with it from time to time if i decide to play rec ball.

The marker is a open bolt blow back that kicks like a mule. Don't expect to get a steady stream flowing to your opponent. If you want that you should get an electro. And due to the kick and slap of the bolt you may find that from time to time there will be a screw missing from your gun.

By now you may be thinking that this gun is a piece of poop. Well you would be wrong. Sure it does a lot of things wrong but it does other things right. Maintenance is a breeze especially with the development in the line of pull back bolts.

The gun is also able to operate on both CO2 and compressed air making it easier for new players to enjoy the benefit of being able to play the sport.

Beginners should definitely pick up this gun. Seasoned players should get one as a back up as a back up/loaner.

Cons: bad barrel, loud
Well i got this marker about 3 months ago and used it on the field and it worked pretty well. I had no chops, or any diffuculties with it. The only down side is the stock barrel and the noise. I dont know if it does this to all the compacts, but mine makes a ding-ing noise everytime it shoots. Anyways, id give this gun a 4 outa 5 star overal. If you are looking for a cheap marker, get this.
