(product was included with gun)

Despite the importance of air source adapters (ASAs), they can often times be an afterthought when building a gun. Due to the growth of the technology of the sport, and the demand of its participants, any mid-grade to high-end gun must come with an on/off ASA, and it is almost to the point where it is expected in low-level guns too.

Dangerous Power strives to make high quality products at a low price, and many of their products do end up being above par for their price, however the RAPS ASA doesn't quite fit that description; if you are buying as an upgrade to a gun. When it is included with a gun, it is a great product.

This might sound odd, but it is easy to understand, but to do so requires knowing the product first hand.

First, the brighter side of this product: it is simple and easy to use, easy to maintain, and it just plain works. The lever makes it obvious what is "on" and what is "off." On/Off ASAs that require to turn an unmarked knob may be confusing as to which what is on and which way is off. Maintenance is almost straight forward: remove the pin, lube the o-ring (replace if necessary) reassemble when finished. It has a dovetail mount so it can be added directly to any dovetail frame. So, easy to use, simple to maintain, versatile.

Now on to the negatives, which requires going back to the lever. Many people like to have their tank on their guns without airing them up. While you can do this with the RAPS, you will have a lever sticking straight out of the ASA. Should you place it down oddly, or it hits something at the wrong angle, the lever could snap or become damaged. Second is more of a personal issue: the side macroline. While many don't mind this, others do, and anyone who does will not like this. This is also where the RAPS falls short of other ASA when being bough apart from the gun. With so many ASAS having straight macro lines, the side macro is just too much of a downfall at its price point.

In summary, when included with a gun, the RAPS is great. Can only add to the gun more than it takes away. If you are looking for an ASA to add to your existing gun, there are usually much better options at the same price, however if you were to get a good deal, then this wouldn't be a bad one to consider if there was nothing else in the same price range.

Cons: the lever
I bought a DP G4 and it came with the RAPS ASA. I immediately fell in love with it. This is a really easy to use and simple ASA. Open lever means the gun is degassed. Closed lever means it is gassed up. Venting works great. After a while I started to like it less. The lever is 100% of my gripes. When you have the ASA degassed the lever sticks straight out and catches on stuff and with little effort, flips back to the ON position. If you are holding the gun by it's grip, it is really easy to accidentally flip on the lever. I did it several times unwittingly. If you have a short regulator on your air tank (Guerrilla Air), the lever end in the on position will possibly hit your tank gauge and not open the ASA fully. The lever needs to NOT extend past the back of the ASA!!! It would work just as well if the lever was half as long as it is and the chances of flipping it on accidentally would probably not happen. When on ,the ASA the works great and 2 side ports makes it really flexible. I bought a second RAPS ASA and have it on a back up gun, but on my main gun I replaced it with a Planet Eclipse POPS ASA which is MUCH nicer. You will never accidentally turn on your POPS ASA and it can't get in the way of your tank reg!!!

Top 4 ASA's I have found:
1. Planet Eclipse POPS ASA
2. Bob Long Cam or Gear drive
3. CP ASA
4. DP RAPS ASA
