The MacDev Cyborg is truly shows the brilliance of MacDev. With capable speeds of a true 33bps and capable of achieving nearly 2000 rounds from a 68cu 4500psi fill. Weighing about 2lbs, this marker can do all this straight out of the box without upgrades.

it's an olive dust 06
out of the box, i noticed the anno was perfect all over. every part matched perfectly. no part was darker or lighter in color.
the stock 06 board is very good. more features than most current highend guns. eyes are laser red so thats cool.
i threw on an asa, gassed it up with no leaks. i shot m few pods of premium in my yard. it was SOOO quiet. ball on ball accurate, and smooth. it had kick but it kicked like a shocker.
at practice yesterday, i set the hpr to 195psi and had the lpr a turn out past flush. went up. shot (299,297,300,298,294,299) i couldn't belive it. i've shot guns with over 20 cases through them and have been maintained and not had that consistancy. this thing had 2 pods prior. it shot fine all day. reg didn't creep. it did creep to 205psi~ while we took a break but the gun sat in the 80* sun.
maintenance is very easy. the reg is easy to take apart. ram is VERY easy.
parts look of high quality.
the efficiency is great also. i havent shot a full case on a full 68/45 yet, but my calculations tell me i'd get like 2100 of a full tank. pretty damn good
like i said, its smooth as a shocker but from what i've heard, the ram takes a while to break in. so a few cases and it'll be like matrix smooth.
there was no fsdo all day either. i had it set to 30 sec. abs with an increase of one ms. but i don't think i needed it.
the only other gun that is alot like the borg is the bob long vice. my teammate rocks a vampire vice. its just as smooth. the vice is a little snappier like an ego. its also a little louder.
aside from feel, the borg wins hands down.
my capt. shoots an ego8 and wasn't impressed with it (ego fanboy )
his gun is louder than my borg when i dryfire the borg. and kicks like a muel, gets like 1700 of a 68/45, and isn't as consistant. i think he was just jealous.
i used to shoot egos, matrixes, ect. and i think i'll stick with macdev.
i'd say buy one
the 04,05,sonic, and 07 are basically the same gun
you can pick them up cheap.

I wrote this review when I first got my Cyborg in 06 and posted it on PBReview. Just thought I'd share it here as well.
First Impressions:
The anno job on this thing is absolutely flawless. All of the parts match up very well with no color variation at all. The gun itself feels very solid without feeling bulky or awkward. It does seem a bit tall but when compared to a DM series marker it is about the same height. Although I don't really care for the feedneck it does seem like a very good stock one. The gun with the barrel, regulator, and 9volt battery installed weighs only 2lbs. With a complete setup on it (air system, loader, paintballs) it is still very light and very manuverable.
Modes and Operation:
The gun is very easy to turn on, just flip the switch in the top of the trigger guard and she is ready to mow faces; no need to wait for it to boot up. It somes stock with break-beam infrared laser eyes. So all you need to do is look in the breach to see if the eyes are working. The LED in the left side of the grip frame tells you if trigger pulls (flashes white) are being registered. The LED is green when the eyes are on and a ball is in the chamber. To turn the eyes off simply hold down the trigger for 1 second and the LED will continually blink red indicating they are off. Changing modes is a breeze once you get used to it (there is a bit of a learning curve here, but not too steep). Simply hold down the trigger when turning the gun on and the LED will be blue. Then select what you want to change by pulling the trigger a predetermined amount of times to access that particular setting. It comes with all the firing modes you will ever need (11 in all) to include PSP, NPPL, and NXL legal modes. The trigger is very easy to adjust with three adjustment screws in the trigger. The top screw adjusts trigger tension, the middle screw adjusts the firing activation point and the bottom screw adjusts trigger travel. This is very easy to do and only takes a few minutes at the most. How much gas does it use? Well, not that much. I shot 2 hoppers on 1500psi and still had well over 1000psi left and that's without breaking in the regulator.
The Fun Stuff:
Shooting ropes of paint with this beast is childs play to say the least. Out of the box I was easly putting out ropes of 10-15 balls at a time with no effort at all. There is virtually ZERO kick and has got to be one of the quietest markers I have ever shot. Is it accurate? You bet it is! I was able to hit 5" groupings at 50/60 feet with a stray ball here and there. I did have 1 barrel break when I tested her out but it was due to the humidity and some slightly swollen paint. But despite the break it still shot straight and true after about 2-3 shots.
Final Grade:
In my humble opinion this is one of the most underrated markers on the market. Looking over this marker I cannot find any reason not to like it, in fact I love it. It's fast, accurate, quiet, air efficient, easy to maintain, light, and easy to adjust. Given all these positives and no noticable negatives I don't know why any serious paintballer wouldn't look at the Cyborg as a possible choice.

Some say its tall, but that's not an issue. It's light around 2 IB, thin, and accurate out of the box, stock board is one of the best, and efficiency is easily 1700+ shoot straight with no kicks seriously. compare this to the other high end marker of 06 this is up there.

nothing regarding performance, some minor skimping
I got the Burnt Orange edition with the 07 red valve already installed. The red valve comes with a back delrin pin that is supposed to eliminate that "ping" sound from the older metal pins, but since I never had the metal pin, I wouldn't know.
This gun is about the only gun that I recommend no internal upgrades. I have tried the snakeskin bolt and the stock one is actually better. The other upgrades like valve and ram do very little if at all. I suppose if you are in a tourney you could upgrade the board, but 12 modes of the stock board keep me happy enough.
Some say the gun is tall, but it really is not. You gotta see it in person to get the perspective.
The gun came out when dovetail wasn't all the rage, so you had to get your own ASA. If you get one these days it probably has one from the original user already.
The barrel is nice. So is the reg. The gun has been ball-on-ball since day 1. Very little kick unless I mess it up. It requires very little maintenance too.
Yes, this gun can do 33bps. There's a video of it somewhere.
I am unhappy with the stock grip panels. The wraparound rubber panels are flimsy and the screws that hold it in place easily go through them. I got some neoprene washers for like $0.01 each and that solved the problem. I guess the company was thinking they could go cheap expecting the users to want their own unique grips anyway? They'd be right, because I did...
I also got a delrin trigger. Those are the only aftermarket parts I run on my gun, other than blackout screws.
There's nothing else to say. This gun is worth all $975 to me.
Appearance: the milling isn't aggressive as much as graceful. I don't think I can explain that very well...
Performance: buttery smooth shooting ball-on-ball goodness, and quiet and efficient doing it too. I'm using a 45/4500 and it lasts quite a lot of pods.
Reliability: this is my main gun. My backup pretty much became my loaner.
Value: you will not regret it. My only advice is to make sure the gun that you are buying includes stock internals AND the stock barrel AND the stock reg. Some owners sell the Cyborg with a CP reg so they can keep the Gladiator for themselves.

I have the X-Fighter$ version of this gun so I enjoy small features other '06 owners must live with out. Overall in my opinion this is the most attractive gun on the market, It shoot like a dream to boot. when I first recieved this gun which I did through a trade there were some minor issues with the laser eyes which I worked out but this thing is truly one of a kind and I recomend borgs no matter what year to anyone.

The Cyborg has been the most reliable marker I have ever owned. Generally a leak is cause by the fact that you need to relube the ram and ram housing which can be done in a minute. It's very reliable and fast. It make appear bigger than say and ego but I like it because I am a larger guy. Only other thing that I don't like about it is the switch to turn it on/off is located right inside the trigger guard that can be accidentally turned off during a game.

It is still fast, it still gets me about 2,000 shoots off of a 68/4500 tank. Maintainance, although not as easy as my Viking is still ridiculously easy, only requiring a clean up and relubing of the Ram and LPR every five cases, and the HPR every 10 cases.
I have seen some people say that they like the Ego more because it is smaller. I can't agree with that, as I have seen pictures of them side by side, and although the Ego is slightly shorter in length, and maybe a bit less in width (Is a couple of millimeters really that much of a difference?), the Borg is shorter in length. Some people don't like the way the grip frame feels to them. I guess this is a matter of personal preference.

It may seem blocky, but it shoots... reliable piece of gat. FAst, quiet, efficient, and reliable, as what MacDev has always been giving. I've had two of these and they both performed great during all games I had. Shooting these since April 06 and shooting almost all guns out there, this wins....
Well worth buying if you can't afford an 07... they shoot the same :p
