I've had my A-5 for about over 4 years now and still use it till this day. Since then I've probably added about two or three hundred dollars worth of upgrades to it, but I'll just review it as it is when it's all stock and fresh out of the box.

Okay, first off it's probably one of the most durable guns out there. If you often play on rough terrains this is the gun you want to get. I've been through the rockiest rough terrains out there and still always came back with it in one piece.

Second, I absolutely love how easy it is to do maintenance, cleaning, and repairs on this gun. The internal set up isn't hard at all to figure out, it becomes easier to remember with each passing time you take it apart. All you need to take the body apart is an Allan key wrench, nothing else.

Third, the feed rate is great with it's standard cyclone feed system, however I really don't like how the stock cyclone paddles are made from hard plastic. I highly recommend getting the after market rubber squishy paddles so your A-5 can handle higher grade paint.

Fourth, the stock barrel just plain out sucks, very inaccurate. I think the first upgrade you want to get with this gun is a good after market 12 or 14 inch barrel. I mean if it's your first couple days and still deciding to stick with paintball or not then stick to the stock barrel and if you decide you want to stick with paintball then get start upgrading your A-5 with a new barrel.

Fifth, the main bad thing about this gun is it's not air/co2 friendly (unless you buy a low pressure kit for it) so I recommend at least getting two 20oz CO2 tanks or if you use HPA two 88ci 4500psi tanks.

Overall this this pretty much one of the best woodsball/scenario guns you can get. There is A LOT of upgrades you can get for this gun and it's performance will depend on what kind of upgrades you get for it. Honestly, if you get enough upgrades for an A-5 it can keep up with any of the high performance speed ball guns. If you're a heavy woodsball/scenario ball player this is the gun you want to get and with the right upgrades it's a powerful beast.

Picked up the A5 package from Canadian Tire that came with a mask for just under $200 (Canadian) so I could play alongside my son.

Gone has worked flawlessly so far (about a dozen times out with it I guess).

The only issue I had with it at all was it didn't seem to shoot that straight, but that's also likely due to the paint at the field I played most, but I did pick up a better barrel and the accuracy seemed to improve a fair bit even with the crappy paint.

The looks are nothing special, but with all kinds of aftermarket upgrades you can make it look like almost anything you want and as a beginner I was after the reliability and ease of maintenance.

If you want a good starting marker, it's hard to beat this for reliability and cost.

This gun is very reliable, as long as you treat it well. I have managed to break some parts, but Tippmann was always very helpful and they even replaced parts for free. Overall it is a great marker for anyone starting out, and it is an awesome platform to build on if you decide to get more serious.

Pros: Reliable, lots of upgrades, extremely customizable
Cons: Heavy, cyclone sticks out, difficult to strip
This is a true tinkerers marker. An excellent upgrade from an entry level marker as it is customizable into basically anything you want. Go for the mil-sim look with stocks and barrels, keep it as a sleeper with internal modes and stock appears, add an e-trigger and spray paint. Possibilities are endless.

These markers can be easily picked up used with lots of upgrades for a very good price. They are very common, which means parts are easy to come by and are fairly easy to modify or repair by oneself. Internals are slightly difficult to access and get the marker back together, but is easier with practice. I have forgetting to put back in the ball detent more times than I care to admit, which means fully splitting the receiver halves.

I've owned 3 different A-5s over the last 14 years I've been involved in paintballing. They are durable, easy to use and low maintenance. I've enjoyed the various upgrades I've installed and tinkering around with the marker. I would highly recommend one if you are in the market for such a marker.

If picking one up used, make sure to check the ratchet functionality. Ratchets in the cyclone will eventually wear down and need replacing. The replacement is cheap and easy to install and one has a variety of options to replace it with.

BOTTOM LINE: Excellent marker with unlimited customizability. Great to tinker with, or simply use as stock. Very reliable and very durable. Highly recommended.

I've owned my A5 for almost four years now and I've only once had it malfunction to a level were I had to replace any parts. Its a great gun for scenario guys who want something that can both take a beating, and be customized to get that mil-sim look. Stock setup isn't very accurate, so I recommend getting an upgraded barrel at least.

Pros: Durable, Looks Good, Pretty Accurate
Cons: Gas Hog
I got this gun a year or so ago and recently sold it to my brother to get into paintball. I have an invert mini and a wgp prostock autococker so i decided to sell it to him.

When i had the gun, i loved the thing. It was really accurate (I had a flatline barrel though) and everyone always complimented the gun by how it sounded and how it looks. I really liked the gun besides it was a pretty good gas hog. I use hpa with mine and it uses more air compared to my other guns but I'm sure there are some different upgrades that can make these guns more efficient.

Overall, i really recommend this gun to pretty much anyone, especially if you're a woodsball player.

*A note about the Cyclone feed system is that without upgrades, it stops feeding a hundred shots or so before the marker stops working.

I've had mine since 2006 and it has never failed me.
