Price paid: $475.00
Pros: fast, reliable, accurate
Cons: bounce beam eyes, anno quality
Initial Impressions:
I bought the Nerve after the big price drop for $475.00 US. I like the lines on the body, its light weight, thin profile, and overall appearance. I personally do not like the performance or appearance of the stock Freak barrel or SP drop and on/off.

Strengths:

OVERALL: It is an excellent gun, that is fast, accurate, gas efficient, and that also does not chop paint *IF YOU HAVE A FAST ENOUGH HOPPER!!!** I love the Q-lock feedneck, the quick remove bolt is great for cleaning out broken paint. It is quiet, and even more so with the right barrel. Spool Valve markers are quieter, but the Nerve is still pretty quiet.

SPEED- This Nerve is EXTREMELY FAST with the stock board be it the "Nerve Board" or the "Team Nerve Board" that I have in my gun. I got lucky and received a "Team Board" in my Nerve. It comes with 10 rebound/fire mode settings. 1 is semi-only, 2-9 are ramping, and 10 is NXL full auto.. NXL full auto can be modified to straight full auto (always on) to 1, 2, or 3 trigger pulls then full auto.

GOOD EFFICIENCY- Air efficiency can be phenomenal. When I first got my Nerve it was not that efficent given the default dwell setting don't work well wit hthe newer Humphrey Noid in my Nerve. Once I discovered I have the Humphrey Noid (lighter colored, white or tan color) and not the darker Parker Noid, I changed my Nerve settings. These are the settings I finally found that work very well for me:

high pressure reg - 220psi
Dwell- 45 chirps from the bottom
Lpr- Unknown, set to below listed veocity
Tank- 750psi
Recharge- 36 chirps from the bottom for 15bps rate of fire
Fire Mode- Modified NXL Full Auto, 1 Pull/Then full Auto and Rebound 5
Velocity- 270-280 fps
Barrel- Pipe Kit .689 back, 14"
Paint- Draxxus Rec-Sport

Using these settings I got:
1520 shots off a 72ci/4500 psi tank filled to 4400 psi with 2000psi left in the tank after I ran out of paint , and 1350 off a 71ci/4500psi tank filled to 3300 psi with 1000psi left when the paint was gone.

I figure that I should be able to get a full case on a 4500 fill with these settings. That is very good in my experience.

ACCURACY- The Nerve is pretty accurate when using good paint. I don't often shoot high quality paint, because it tends to get very expensive when you can shoot ropes so easily. However, I have used Inferno and a small amount of Marballizer with it and found the accuracy to be quite satisfying. It can't touch my ANS GX-3 for accuracy, but it is more accurate than my friends' DM4 or IONs with my Pipe Kit on it. Consistancy over a chrono is really dependant upon the paint and breel used, but I usually can get +/- 5-8 on the worst days, and +/- 2 on the best days with the best paint and barrel match.

WEIGHT- Its plenty light... Much lighter than my cocker, Omen, or old Spider. If you can't carry it, you probably have trouble loading pods into the hopper too...

EASY MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING- I am not a technical wonder, but I am "okay" at basic maintenance usually. I was worried at first because the Nerve has a different operating system than I had ever worked on before. I have taken it apart a couple of times for routine maintenance to lube the ram assembly and both regulators. It was pretty easy I thought, moreso than getting evrything to work right again on my old Omen. I was very happy wit hthe performance I got with the gun afterwards as well.

Weaknesses

BOUNCE BEAM EYES- The eyes aren't *BAD* but they could be better. Breakbeam eyes are much better, and would make the Nerve that much more reliable. Sometime, with a slower hopper like the Egg I currently use I have gotten the occassional chop, as well as when l outshoot it, the eyes will not register a ball in the chamber. I have to switch from Vision to Non-Vision and back quickly (push the power switch) to get the gun to shoot again. When I use my friends Empire Reloader B, though, I have never had that problem, even with the Nerve set to the maximum ROF where it had to wait for the next ball to feed... Long story short, bounce beam are ok, it would be better with break-beam

POOR ANNO QUALITY- I have never so much as scratched any of the anno on my other guns, but the Nerve has developed three large and unsightly scratches in the annodizing. While it is cosmetic in Nature, it is still aggrivating. It is without a doubt the least hearty anno job of any gun I have used or owned.

TRIGGER MAGNET ADJUSTMENT- Simply said, you can adjust the trigger to a very nice setting, but you must remove the lower board to access the magnet adjustment that is inside the grip behind the trigger. Its a pain, as you have to remove a couple of pins to do so.

Pros: Good shooter, takes a lot of SFT parts, pimpstick
Cons: SP is gone, weird operation
So I've had me nerve for a while now so I am very much qualified to say that the nerve is a good shootah. The only problems with the nerve really are (well what the kids these days call probrems...) that SP is out of bidness (dont rip ya eye ribbonz kids) and that taking it apart is a bit of a biznatch. Other than that, they're pretty good shooters.
Cap some bustahz wit it yo
