Pros: Durable, Light
Cons: Sound Signature
Although It's loud, the Tippmann 98 Platinum Series is a very useful, heavy duty marker. This thing is tough as nails when it comes to the actual frame, etc. I'm not a pro, but when I was younger I owned one.

Pros -
  1. Fairly Light
  2. Customizable.
  3. Ergonomic.
  4. Easy To Maintain.
  5. Nice On Paint (Brands/Field Conditions May Vary).
  6. CHEAP for its price.

Cons -
  1. Kind Of Ugly... Haha
  2. Loud
  3. Kind of Bad on Air, as I Remember

As I said above, this thing is tough as nails. Iv used other 98s. Iv doven into bunkers, and accidentally mashing them on rocks. They're like. The AK-47s of paintball! A nicely priced, all around good gun by Tippmann!!

2nd paintball gun I ever owned. Purchased back when it was originally released. It has been over 10 years since I originally purchased it and I can still get it, throw a tank on it and it will be ready to go.
It isn't the best looking, or most straight shooting gun, but if you are playing in a tight compacted wooded area, and you are going to get your gun down in the dirt and mud, this is the one you want. You can get this thing wet and muddy and it will still shoot. Highly recommended for wooded play.

Pros: Simple design, cheap, reliable
Cons: ugly, heavy, loud
So mine was the Wal-Mart cheap starter kit thing. It wasn't even a 98C, just a straight up 98. It was loud, heavy, and sounded like hell but it worked in the handful of outlaw games I played with it. Upgraded the crappy barrel to a 12" CP one piece since that was all I figured I could do to it and that made it a bit quieter and gave a "perceived" increase in accuracy...

I will give it marks for reliability and it just worked. I never cleaned it and had it for 2 years with maybe 3 cases of Wal-Mart paint shot through it but every time I pulled it out of the closet it worked. What can I say, I was young

All in all, works for a starter if they don't have access to rental gear or just really really want their own gun. Obviously this thing's reputation speaks for itself, but I wouldn't say it's the end all starter gun.

Tippmann Sports 98 Custom Platinum Series This is more of a woodsball gun . not for speed ball! you can mod the hell out of it and then you could use it for tactical gameplay . will never break down even if you break 10 paintballs in it...
