Tippmann created a monster with the 98 custom. When I had mine back in 03 I got it for the sale price of $150. Now I've seen the version I had going for about $75 (base and no upgrades). I'm glad they give you all these upgrades nwo because when I bought mine I needed them.

This was my first gun I ever owned. I love it. It is perfect for a beginner and a low price. I installed a double trigger right when I got it. I also got a Apex for 20 bucks off ans gear. I love this gun, it is very easy to maintain and is a simple gun. This is a great gun for any beginner. I haven't had a problem with it. It has only broken paint a few times, and it was very cold so the paint was brittle. Great gun.

There is a reason why most paintball fields use this as their rental. This gun is TOUGH and reliable. The down side is that you need to invest quite a bit of money into it to make it speedball worthy. Great entry level gun to grow from or perfect for the casual player.

Tippmann Sports 98 Custom Platinum Series This was the first gun I bought back in 2003. The 98C is super easy to take apart to clean. It is still my go to marker if someone new to the sport asks what gun they should get first.

i have had a tippmann 98c since i started playing and still have it to this day. They are durable no matter how many times they get shot or dropped on the ground. They can be a pain to take apart and put back together sometimes. Can be completey customizable. Works well in colder tempuratures. Loud
