Probably "the" beginner gun. The tippmann 98c is a great gun. Normally used for woodsball it has a tough interior/exterior. Is quite simple to use and can stand up to almost any beating you give it. It's reliable, and operates off of co2... a big + for anyone with a budget. A little on the heavy side but overall a great gun.

Stock it comes with all the features necessary for a good gun, (except maybe the barrel). Has an adjustable feedneck as well. Stock it shoots quite decent, accuracy is a little off, mainly because of the ported 7.5 inch barrel.

Another great feature about the tippman 98c is little maintenance, the occasional oil, but other than that it shoots great. You can drag it through the mud, rain, and snow and it still shoots great. Comes with many options, of accessories. Like a stock, WAS E-board, variety of barrels etc.

Overall a very solid preformance and extremely reliable
Do not hesitate to buy

this was my first gun after a pump and i must say a tippmann is good. now i have 2 years on the plate and dislike the tippmann company. they send theyre guns shooting over 300 out of the box. and then they promote woodsball and backyard stuff. usually without chrono'd refs and the quality is getting lower.

What can you say about the 98C? It serves it purpose. It is a rock, super tough, and really the backbone of all woodsballers. It seems everyone had a 98C at once, and no one had a problem. I beleive that this gun is great as you can modify it, or leave it bone stock and you will never regret it.

I mean really, its a 98C..

alright, this is my review for the Tippmann 98 Custom. this gun is a definite yes to those just getting into the game.

pros: this gun is extremely durable, heck you can run it over like 30 times and will work like it's brand new (not recommended). this gun is great in the woods and on a speedball field. this gun for a fact will not let you down.

cons: is gun isn't the best looking gun i've seen but hey, don't judge a book by it's cover. when opening up it has alot of small pieces in it. and if your getting the new tippmann 98 custom with a.c.t. technology, you can't install any stocks.

conclution: overall this gun is great, it's like a female weight lifter, if you pretty her up a bit, she will look decent.

This is an amazing begginer marker, it is so reliable that you won't ever have to do anything. It performs amazingly well also. Any person that wants to get into paintball or get into paintball should get this gun. Recommend it to your friends who are getting into paintball. And if it is too expensive for you to start out with, get a used one off of ebay, they work just as well because they are so reliable! A+ marker.

Pros: Reliable, Upgradable, Excellent for all players
Cons: None.
My Tippmann 98 Custom I've had since the summer of 2001. Even now its still my primary marker on the field. It may not be good looking but it can take any kind of abuse and still function perfectly.

Besides some upgrades, all internal parts are stock (except powertube for cyclone and RT use) and the bolt O-ring has only needed to be replaced once in the last 7 years. My 98C still functions just like new and has had more than 260,000 paintballs fired through it.

Its not too attractive visually but its one of the most reliable, upgradeable, and cost effective marker availble.

If your a new or an experianced paintballer, the 98 Custom will be the one you can always rely on and customize it to whatever you want.
