Pros: fast, decently effecient, accurate, good board
Cons: prone to breaking, spool valve, high maintenance
I got this gun and was happy for about 1 day, then it had a problem with the bolt getting stuck, i lubed it, switched out o-rings and it never worked right. After that i had this problem with the gun double shooting. I had two certified people work on it and couldnt figure out the problem. So now i have to send it back in and get a refund and a different gun. But when the gun was working right, it was great and also the board is tournament ready and goes to 33 bps but you have to lube the bolt all the time since it is a spool valve gun

Pros: The air release in the back is a nice feature
Cons: Very unreliable
I purchased a brand new Proto SLG package and what horribly disappointed. When I took the marker to the field for the first time, I experience one problem after another. The most annoying was the bolt would get stuck pinched to a paintball. Eyes were working so I'm not sure what was causing that. When I went home and tried to diagnose the problems, the marker stopped working completely. I called Dye and they said it was probably a board/solenoid problem. They said they would mail me a replacement board and solenoid. Took them 4 weeks to mail the parts. 4 weeks!!!! That's ridiculous. And then, when the parts arrived, they were obviously used. C'mon, that was a brand new marker that never worked since day 1. And they send me used parts? That's ridiculous.

I returned the marker and bought another brand. Much happier.

Stay away from this cheap marker. I'd say buy a Spyder or spend the extra bucks to get an Invert Mini.

Cons: Feed neck, barrel
I just took out this gun for the first time today. Other than the backyard, I had never used it before. I was quite impressed. The SLG is a low end marker that performs more like a high end marker. I cant say I'm too surprised considering it is a Dye product. I played all day and ran into no problems. The only reason I broke a ball was b/c I switched tanks without removing the hopper. I was able to clean the ball break out very quickly. The gun is extremely easy to maintain and take apart. It is very accurate. My friend and I were comparing accuracy between his Etek2 and my SLG. The SLG was more accurate...need I say more. The body of the gun is coated in a high strength plastic that protects the gun and prevents scratches. It seems to be made for a relatively high level of wear and tare. Now for the cons. The feed neck is pretty good, but it should be a stock clamp feed neck instead of a screw. This seems like an obvious thing that Dye overlooked. I would recommend replacing it if you want to take your hopper of quickly. Now for the barrel...W.A.P.O.S.! Its not that good, and its a 11 inch barrel. This one is beyond me. Why in the world would you sell a marker with a 11 inch barrel? Most usually come with at least a 12 inch, and alot of the high end markers are starting to come with 14 inch as standard. I use either a 14 inch J&J Cerramic or a Custom Products 14 inch. The J&J is nice, but it has a bore size that is a bit small. I got the largest bore size and it is working well. Now i suggest these if you want something reasonably priced. You can always go with more expensive ones. For those of you who are beginners looking at a Spyder or a Tippmann...don't do it! Too many of us have fallen into that trap. Buy this gun. You can grow as a player with it. For you advanced players, it is a decent back up gun that is reliable. It may not be a DM9, but you can still dominate the field with it. It's $200 well spent!
