Pros: good value
Cons: performance
I used to shoot an 09 pmr with hyper 3, metal backcap, clamping feedneck, tech-t bolt. I had to put those upgrades into it in order to get it up to speed on shooting performance. I started out with rec-ball , which the pmr is perfect for. It shoots consistent enough to play just for fun. I played a couple of tournaments with the upgraded pmr and it shot well. I would reccommend this marker to anyone looking at getting into some more consistent playing. good performance for the price, suggest upgrades.

Pros: Great gun, shoots great, rarely chops paint
Cons: a bit loud, slight kick when shooting
In all honesty, even though this is my first gun, I love it. When I bought it, it came with a custom product on/off ASA and a 16 inch Smart Parts barrel. This gun, in my opinion, is so easy for me to maintain and it shoots great. The only bad part is that every time I shoot it, there's a slight kick and its a bit loud. For me, it's great gun for me to start out with.

Pros: easy maint., reliable, upgradeable
Cons: no asa, barrel, stock trigger, stock feedneck
Bought mine new when they first came out in 07-08? I still use it to this day. One of my fav's. I immediately bought a new feedneck and trigger frome for it after buying it. Put them on and its been reliable ever since. Small lightweight, and fast. good for beginners and can keep up with the big guns too.

Cons: Finicky and often prone to leaks.
Great marker that was a solid shooter when working. Only problem with this marker was it often went down with leaks that could take some time to ID and fix. This is mostly due the number of O-Rings that could be the issue. It's a great marker however to cut your teeth on and learn how to properly maintain your marker. Outside the occasional issues with leaks this was a solid pretty gun with tons of options.

Cons: Looks, plastic
This was my first speedball gun, and i think it is highly underrated. I had the PMR 08 SE, which had a few less plastic pieces. It is the most reliable gun i or anyone on my team has ever owned, and you can get them for a steel here on PBN (i bought mine on ebay, and that price isnt typical).

to sum it all up, the PMRs of the paintball world are like the Honda Civics of the car world.

Proto Paintball Proto Matrix Rail (PMR) For what you pay for you get a great entry level marker that can easily be upgraded along the way if need more options. Couldn't complain for the price I paid.

Cons: heard of failures from others.
bought this marker as a backup because i figured it would be nice to at least have something not mechanical in my gear bag as a backup and low and behold i bought it and the next weekend my Gen-E matrices bolt broke and i had to grab it from the gear bag.

besides taking it out of the box i hadnt even put air or a barrel on it yet. aired it up and switched the barrels. it chronod at 274 and 271 right out of the box and was able to shoot quickly. was immediatly surprised at how quiet it was. and how easy the stock trigger was to play with. nice and light and i have to say i might have to make my 2002 matrix the backup marker next time. had a great time wielding this thru the fields.

Proto Paintball Proto Matrix Rail (PMR) Its a nice little beginner gun, and great to learn how to maintain your marker properly with. I would recommend to any beginner to mid end player wanting to learn how to beast the field.
