This is a spin-off from the traditional Proto Matrix series by Dye Precision.
It is a Dye/Proto's mid end marker, and offers features usually found on more expensive models at an affordable price.
Proto Paintball Proto Matrix Rail (PMR)Out of the box this gun is light fast and awsome
the first thing i noticed is the trigger that can easily be fixed with a silk trigger from new designs next on/off asa this needs 1 indefinitely...

Reiliability lacked in this how ever
the orings definitly need to be changed out of the box
other wise this gun should and can compete in the high end tournaments
i think it is a high end marker any ways

I bought this gun hoping to be able to just have a better gun. The pmr is a great gun, but dose have its weaknesses, like it has plastic parts, lot of o rings (most matrixs do), and no lpr. Buy there is a lot of good thing about this gun eyes, light, fast, cheap, good bolt system, and hyper 2 reg. It has been great but at the beginning had a lot of probs and i mean like 10-15. But it is worn in and is working great now. I highly recommend it to people that want a good gun but dont have the $$.

I've had the PMR for more thatn 6 months. I've gone through about 5 tournaments with it. One being 38* by our first game. It was pretty nice on cold, and very brittle paint. I actually saw egos chopping more often my ego. The only problem I really had was the back cap cracking on me. Other than that, the only leaks I got, were due to the back O-ring having a little too much lube. Once it got broken in, I thought it shot so smooth. I had to play with the trigger, and the sensitivity. I love it. If you have anyquestions about the PMR, I will be more than happy to help you out. Don't be afraid to PM me. No matter how Newbish the question

Pros
This gun is very light weight. The grip frame is comportable. The gun has a locking feedneck. The gun can shoot at a decent rate. With some aftermarket upgrades this gun can improve. I added a virtue board and a new trigger and my gun was able to shoot as fast and consistany as higher end guns.
Cons
Stock trigger is a bendy rubber. Stock frame is weak for someone who dives a lot. The gun burns through air VERY VERY quickly. There are a bunch of o-rings to deal with. The stock backcap unscrews as you shoot. The stock backcap is plastic and can strip easily. In my gun there are 4 tiny screws that secure the backcap, the one on the bottom comes loose and falls out of place, making it VERY hard to get the bolt out for cleaning. When this gun chops no good until you clean and relube the bolt.
Overview
In my opinion, I would save your money and invest in something higher end. With aftermarket upgrades the gun can shoot well (as long as nothing chops) but the work that you have to put into maintaining the gun isn't worth it.

when it doesnt have air if i try to fire it shoots normal for 1 shot then is really quiet but i dont know if it shoots because im out of air. if you know whats wrong with it please help thanx. and im getting a ul frame for it so hopefully thatl fix it but maybe not
OVERALL:Great gun the reason you dont like it is because your used a pm4-5
which is $750 when the pmr is $500 less its not gunna be as good. I give it

i tested this marker when my buddy got it for his b-day (his mom wanted me to go through it and make sure it was tuned right and not broken) i took it out and shot it and wow for a matrix i about pooped my pants when i heard this cannon go off... the trigger was very akward and very cheap and bendy... so was the frame! as i was crewing the tank on nd of the frame bent a lot! not good...
the modes are nice to have and so was the adjustability of the board but i personally would not trust that cheap plastic frame or back cap... that is why i bought an slg... i cant bend the frame and the back cap is metal...
if you buy this marker i would suggest buying an onoff, a new back cap, and a new frame...

Proto Paintball Proto Matrix Rail (PMR)Pro'sHas a nice Hyper 2 stock regulatorLight/Plastic Parts, kinda a good thingNot bad performance at all
Con'sNo on/offtrigger isn't the bestfeedneck isn't good over time
Overall
This gun is good...
This gun is good for beginners or even novice players though upgrades would be a good idea. If you have $300 bucks and are lookin for a decent gun, I would recemmond this one. Just to list the upgrades I got for my gun might give you a idea of what you might need if your lookin to keep this gun over time: CP On/Off ASA, Dye Ultralight Trigger, Dye Ultralight Frame, New Designz Clamping Feedneck, CP Silver Backcap.

PERFORMANCE
Great ramping and psp modes. i was very impressed. i am dissapointed to say that it is loud and an oddball in the matrix series.
RELIABILITY
Leaks as mentioned before. i have adjusted the macro line to my liking and it now does not leak. i also have heard claims of a bad back cap. well that is the fault of the user stripping it. just tighten it with your fingers, then take an allen wrench and make a 1/8 turn. TRIGGER i purchased a NDZ rolling venom trigger, VERY lightweight and adjusts perfectly. also i removed the spring behind the trigger which removes some of the tension. the stock one just took too much getting used to with its moving left to right.
VALUE
Astonishing. i am surprised it is not in the high end section. this marker gets an easy 25 bps and is only $250. this over an ion any day, because noobs who buy ions dont realize they have to spend $500 more to make it shoot like they want it 2. not with the rail i am satisfied with my gun and i got everything but the trigger @ ansgear.com

THIS GUN SHOULD NOT BE IN THE LOW-END SECTION!!!!!

Proto Paintball Proto Matrix Rail (PMR)It is basically a PM7 minus the LPR and Fuse bolt. I love this thing, UL'd and its amazing. I would not count this as a low end, it performs just as well as any other highend, minus the efficiency.
