Pros: RELIABLE/EFFICIENT
Cons: Reg tight to grip frame
Hi there Nation, I have many guns and have a few reviews out there I have def been meaning to do a review on this gun for sometime being it has been my primary since for the last 9 months. I have played a whole lot of ball with this gun. I actually got it used on the nation and had heard such great things about this model I had to have one.

-Very light and extremely familiar DM feel.
-Extremely air EFFICIANT! unlike my 07 rail being the least efficient gun owned to date, this bad boy will put out 10 pods and a hopper on a hot fill 68/45, I noticed the efficiency on the indoor a lot but on the outdoor a defend the hill I filled a box full of pods and 7 on my belt and shot all the paint before running out of air.

-lpr / hpr balance makes a huge difference on this marker, efficiency and smoothness, without proper balance it will be kicky.

-CAPABILITY. I have used this gun in many conditions, being I live in Michigan and if you want to paintball you can bet on rain!, and it has played through every game every time and have only had a single issue ever with the gun and it was the lpr needing lubed, very reasonable after 20+ cases through the thing very nice piece a definite workhorse that can still compete in any division.

-OH BTW I do hate the hyper 3 being soo tight to the grip frame so 8/10 ergo

Really the only problem I had with this was the eyes and eye pipe. Mine cracks from time to time and if left un-maintained pieces of the pipe come off and it messes with the o-rings and efficiency.

Great product, none-the-less!

Pros: price, consistency, ergonomics
Cons: efficiency, board
Easily my favorite Dye marker overall. No its not as fancy as a dm9+, not as efficient as an NT, not as cheap as a pm7, but it just shoots people. I upgraded mine to wire eyes so i didnt have to deal with the ribbon eyes crapping out, so that solved the #1 issue with these markers but with some gun slinger grips i didnt touch anything else. One of the most comfortable guns ive owned. Only real complaint are dyes boards. I cant stand em. Maybe im spoiled from owning a lot of Bob guns and having tadao boards, or owning guns with oled boards, but its just unimpressive.

Price paid: $200.00
Pros: eyes, UL frame, barrel
Cons: eyes, barrel, trigger, feedneck
Price paid was for a used one.

It has self-cleaning eyes which is very nice
The UL frame is solid and comfortable, it also has all the modes that you would need for tourny play
One of the few mid-level markers that provide a 2-piece barrel(which in my book is a plus)
The gun is fast, efficient (as spool-valves go), and accurate.
Looks slick!

The ribbon eyes kinda suck in that they are easy to break during maintenance.
Also the eye-pipe that is used (same as dm8) are fragile and only okay, they break easily (sometimes from just screwing a barrel where you would need to put an o-ring on the barrel to prevent this)
Although having a 2-piece barrel is great it is only okay
definitely want to upgrade to a clamping lever feedneck
trigger is a lil sloppy an upgraded trigger would be better

Overall the gun is great, it is accurate, fast, efficient and quiet.
Needs a few upgrades but out of the box it is solid. Comes pretty packed with alot of nice parts that were lost in the pmr and slg versions.

Highly recommended I love mine.

For anything looking to get back in the game on a budget of under $300, the PM8 is your gun! The PM8 is only 4 years old, yet the price has dropped a dramatic 75%. This thing still shoots ropes, looks good and can compete with other markers priced over $1000.

Proto Paintball Proto Matrix 8 (PM8) The pm8 is very accurate and consistent. It needs a little help with its efficiency though. It's very comparable to a dm
