Pros: reliability, price, functionality
Cons: plastic back cap must be replaced, air hogg
I have had my pmr since 2007 when it came out, I run this marker with a halo-B hopper and obviously hpa, this gun will not work with co2(nor should any marker). my backup gun is a second pmr and I use them both very frequently twice a week. my pmr will shoot a solid 12000 rounds before needing any ring replacement, if that. I have ran the gun for a couple of years straight no maintenance so I seriously believe most unreliability reviews be due to the user, wrongly adjusted lpr or even ever screwing on a co2 and u will start problems. This marker is a serious gas hog but has the capability to compete with any. I play right next to empire axes all day and my team member with a dm7 has used my spare pmr on multiple occasions and loves it. this marker is a text book example of a great deal. the gun is extremely cheap for its capabilities and surprisingly extremely simple. I do recommend lubing the bolt every time before or after you play, much like any dye marker the proto's require being well lubed or you will experience a first ball drop which will immediately stop after lubing. I shoot a minimal of 4000 rounds a weekend so my review should be pretty accurate btw the only modification I have done with this gun is a metal back cap and CLAMPING FEEDNECK, very nice improvement.it is kind of noisy, but when you can easily obtain one of these markers for $150.00, come on. I ran a dm7 with ul and the difference is miniscule, unless you have small hands the ul frame may fit a little nicer. Last week I did shoot 8000 balls in the course of 14 games in a day and still a spotless bolt. I also own 15 other markers and this is my favorite though I am looking to pick up a jt impulse very soon that may change my mind.

Proto Paintball PMR (Proto Rail 07) you will need to buy a new back cap as the plastic one will strip over time just buy a metal one and your good and a ul frame

Pros: Solid entry level performance and price
Cons: UNRELIABLE, Terrible stock trigger
ultimately, the cheap fuse bolt alternative adopted cause FAR too many problems. This required the bolt to be immediately ripped out of the marker and replaced with a redesigned alternative - my recommendation is the Techt l7.

The composite frame was much more durable than anticipated

Board settings are incredible for a budget gun. When coupled with a UL frame, new eyes and a new bolt, you have a fairly competitive set up.

Not a terrible way to enter the speed ball market, but if you want to have a reliable back up or primary, the stock bolt needs to be tossed immediately (preferably out of a moving car window whilst crossing bridge over moving water).

Pros: Performance, Looks
Cons: Efficiency
What can I say. This was my first paintball gun, and I still have it. The only gun I've paid full retail price and for nostalgia's sake I can't bring myself to sell it. Thought the bolt does have a decent amount of orings overall the gun is very trouble-free and easy to maintain. It's a very smooth shooter once broken in and with my eignenbarrel on it the gun is extremely quiet. At the prices these run for today it's a no-brainer in my opinion to pick one up for cheap. Throw a UL frame and a clamping feedneck on there and you're good to go. Only negative aspect of this gun is that it is very low in the efficiency department. Otherwise, a great gun.
