The newest edition to the Empire family is the Scion paintball loader. The Scion incorporates features of our other loaders, the Halo Too and the Prophecy Z2 to create a high-tech middle brother. Featuring a sensor system and a new drive cone based of the Z2 design and packed into the Halo Too shells, we created a loader that functions like a champ without breaking your wallet. The best feature is the addition of a tool-less battery door-Yep!- no more screwdriver needed to change batteries. If the Z2 is our thoroughbred, the Scion is our workhorse. Infrared Break Beam activation New drive cone for more consistent feeding; based off the successful Z2 paintball loader design Self Monitoring Drive Speed, similar to the logic used on the Z2 loader Saves battery life Prevents “Pop-corning” of balls More consistent feeding, so the marker is never starved of paintballs Auto Jam Clearance Scion senses a jammed paintball and reverses to clear the jam 6 Adjustable speed settings Tool-less Battery Door Includes a Rip Drive™ for manual advance or reverse of the ball stack Integrated Freeway Anti-Jam Works very well with Reballs™ Compatible with standard Halo accessories and shells, such as the Quick Load lid

Appearance
Looks just like a Halo. Same material shell. Has the empire logo on the side which looks pretty nice. Does use a tool-less battery door which is a really nice touch.
Performance
This loader feeds better than either of my two Rotors. It automatically senses and backs up any jams, and does so fast enough that your lane isn't interrupted. I haven't tested max BPS but on my axe it fed 15.4bps ramp without problem. I've yet to have it jam up enough that it stops feeding. Even with super ****ty paint.
Reliability (and battery life)
Thus far as said above I've yet to have it jam up on me. The rip drive hasn't been used at all. Battery life has been just about as good as a rotor. I've put probably 15+ cases of paint through it now on a single set of batteries. They need replacing finally as it's feeding a little slower but that's pretty damn good battery life.
Value
Excellent value. I picked the Scion over the Z2 (I needed an empire loader for PSP) because I'm not a fan of the Z2 shells, and I didn't feel like spending a lot of money. This was a great purchase. The only downside to this loader is the screws holding the whole thing together. Due to the design this isn't a problem on the field, but it will be a pain to clean broken paint up.

i won my empire scion at a TC paintball in Grand Rapids MI. at the Friday night league, i was using the V-Max and the upgrade was nice. it is alot faster then i thought it was going to be an it would keep up with my friends rotor. the one thing i noticed is that the capacity was smaller then the v-max. the smart unjam programming is great mine has never stopped feeding and if u don't have the 6 AA batteries u can use a single 9v. i put the exalt feed gate on mine and it works great!

Price paid: $25.00
Pros: Consistent, faster than me
Cons: High Profile, Hard to clean, Heavier than my gun
If you are curious about my price paid, I bought it off of a guy at my local field. He broke off the battery door in a fit of rage, and bought a new Z2 on the spot.

Anyways, this hopper will fire consistently. I was having problems where it would stop loading paint into my gun unless I push the button again, but I think I resolved that issue. It also loads faster than my fastest speed on semi. I'm not sure if it would keep up with the fastest my gun will ramp, but I feel like it will.

There are 3 problems I have had with it. The first is that it is heavy. I have a Planet Eclipse Etha, and this loader empty is heaver than my Etha with its barrels attached. The Second is that is is a pain to clean. Unless you disassemble it, you won't be able to get all of the paint out of it should a round break in the hopper. The third is that it is high profile. It adds somewhere between 6 to 8 inches to the top of your gun. Also, I'm not sure what the capacity is, but I think its 180 or so, because I have to mostly empty my gun before I can put another pod in (I am using 160 round dye locks). Unlike the Z2 or the Spire, you cannot upgrade the size on this. Take that into account.

Beyond that, its a great loader. I would not recommend you buy it new. The one I bought had a cosmetic fault that I was willing to live with, but you could probably get a used one for the price of a new Halo Too.

Empire out did themselves with the Scion loader. For a low price you can get the child of the Halo Too and the Z2 for way cheaper. I play with regular paint as well as reballs and it works great with both. It is a bit big for my taste but can't beat its performance.

Pros: Feed rate, tool less battery door
Cons: Heavyish, not completely tool less
I bought the hopper with a mask hopper combo so the value goes up considerably due to the fact that this hopper does everything I need it to do. Not often are us tourney players out shooting ANY electro hopper out there so for the price this hopper does the trick. Eventually could see myself moving on to the tool less hoppers but all in all, perfect performing loader for the cost

Pros: Looks good, inexpensive
Cons: (6) AA batteries needed
I needed an extra hopper for my son's Mini but didn't want to get him something too expensive (Spire, Z2, etc.) but I didn't want to get him a used loader either, so I choose the Empire Scion for him & it was a good choice. The hopper keeps up with his rate of fire & is easy to program. It looks good, too. The Empire logo finish on the side of the loader is sick! The only thing I didn't like too much about the loader is that is takes six AA batteries, so it's a lil front heavy. But one cool feature is that the battery door has a tool-less feature where it uses a latch instead of the traditional screw. All in all, decent loader for the price.

Price paid: $80.00
Pros: Fast, reliable, never-jams, and rarly breaks paint
Cons: lots of batteries and strict voltage range
Fun fast hopper with good reliability using Z2 system to drive it (that is unless you forget to turn it on). It did how ever broke on me once when I took it out of storage (after modifying it for 9.6V battery packs) and somehow fried the board. Sent it into KEE and they replaced all the electronics even if all they had to do was put a new board in it. In return got a free board upgrade, a new Z2 motor, and a new tachometer. Spent $11 on shipping for a $50 replacement part and got $80 back in free upgrades.

Only time it broke paint was when I fed it 3 year old walmart paint because i'm cheap like that.

Have Magna drive clutch kit in it with a Magna rip-drive, plan on upgrading the eyes to dual band inferred+light break-beam, and possibly extend it so it goes into my Model 98's breach.
