Pros: It Works Well
Cons: Pricey
I'll state it right now...I am not a huge fan of barrel kits, especially ones that use inserts. Yes, this barrel works and it work fairly well too but I don't think it is worth the cost. I obtained the kit through a trade which is pretty much the only reason I own it.

The barrel is by no means bulky but isn't the best looking in my opinion either. The whole idea of inserts and paying all this extra money so you can get a good fit on any paintball you shoot just doesn't seem worth it. I am a bigger fan of just over boreing the paint but we will leave that for another time.

So the Freak Barrel kit is a very good barrel and if you have the money and are dead set on a kit then I would say the Freak is a very good option. It shoots straight and can deal with breaks fairly well in my own experience. The inserts, unless stainless steel, are a bit fragile although they still need quite a bit of a beating to cause any real damage. I just haven't noticed, in my experiences, any advantage in owning the Freak kit and I truly believe there are barrels out there that perform better.

Pros: Tournament grade barrel
Cons: Price, bore sizing can be a pain in the heat
I bought the freak jr kit for my A5 last year, put a couple cases through it and broke about a dozen balls. If you have an electro I'd say buy this barrel but if you have a Tippmann skip it and grab a J&J or anything from Opsgear. I sold my freak and got a 6 in barrel from opsgear, such an improvement for my playing style.
Quick note; I've met tons of people that swear by this barrel, it just hasnt been my experience. All in all, if you have a Tippmann just get a flatline or a cheaper barrel like an SP progressive or J&J ceramic.

Cons: Sometimes Breaks.Depends on paint.
I bought it off the nation used. I put it on my ion, knowing it would look good of course. When i shot some Big Balls, it didn't have any breaks for the whole case. The thing is you need a swab, cause all the teardrop tip does is shred the Straight Shot. So grab some decent paint, and a swab or two, and your good to go.

i bought a freak jr, not a freak, for 60 bucks on actionvillage. i liked it for the time i had used it, but couldnt really upgrade from the standard freak junior system. i mean, backs are $50, fronts are $30 and inserts are $12. that just seemed like money that didnt seem worth it. but i stuck with my jr., and had a great time with it. it's very accurate, and very light. for 60 bucks, its just as good as the 150 dollar system.

Cons: anno? none really though
i got this with my gun so i didnt realy pay just for it, anyways. this is a great barrel, there are lots of inserts making it very accurate, i probably get a spread from 20-25 ft away of 3-5 in? i dont know, thats kind of just a guess. it is also fairly quiet, but that also has to do with your gun. as for the anno thing, its coming off a little on the tip of the front and stuff but thats expected with use. overall, its a great barrel and i highly recomend it.

Pros: Customizable, well ported, able to match paint.
Cons: cant shoot through breaks well
the freak is a MUST HAVE IF.... you have more than 1 marker that have different threading... I personally have a lot of diff. threaded markers at any given time, so i picked up a freak back for all of my diff. threads.

now, i own an evil pipe kit, a freak kit, and i use the Dye UL over them...

the freak is a great system, but if you only use 1 or 2 types of paint, or only play at 1 field that uses 1 kind paint, or only have 1 thread type, id opt for something different.

The sheer usablity of this kit is great, as if you have more than 1 type of threaded gun, you can use the same kit with a $40 back.
there is a reball insert if you can find one.

If you have a set of sizing calipers you can note that the labeling of the Al inserts are innacurate, and you may end up paying for 2 or three of the same size.

it perfroms well, buts a barrel, its very hard these days to have a barrel that performs poorly at this price.

there are better kits out there. that offer the same versatility, but are made to a higher standard.

I still own it but rarely use it.

Ive used this for about 2 years. As long as your gentle with the inserts they wont bend. i haven't had one even a little dented yet. the accuracy is excellent. I can hit a tree 2-3 inches wide 8 out of 10 times from a good distance away.

If you have the money get this over anything but you wont think twice once you get it.
