Pros: Bore matching, good looking,
Cons: Expensive new, hard to shoot through breaks.
I got a Freak barrel and 5 inserts off the nation for $65.

I have the old style, so it's the one that has "freak" cut out of the back. I really like the way it looks, it's gloss black, and the All American tip looks good too.

This barrel kit really helps your game. The shot grouping becomes WAY tighter when using this compared to a stock barrel. People will try to tell you that bore doesn't matter, but they're liars. One problem I have with this barrel is that it isn't very self cleaning. What I mean by that is if you get a barrel break or a chop, your paintballs will be very erratic for the next 20 or so shots.

I have never heard of anyone breaking their Freak barrel, and although the aluminum inserts look fragile, I have dropped mine a couple times and see no problems with them. Also, the one Stainless Steel insert I have is a Brick. No way it'll break.

Another thing is that alone, it seems really heavy. But I didn't count this as a con because when it's on your gun in the middle of a game, you really don't notice a couple oz.

New, the Freak kit is extremely expensive, but if you buy used, you can get it for a good deal.

I would definitely recommend getting this barrel kit to anyone looking to upgrade their game.

Pros: inserts, accuracy,
Cons: heavy
The freak barrel is a really good barrel since you can bore match just about any ball. Changing the bore is as simple as pulling out the insert and putting a new one in. This lets you get better accuracy and consistency. Although the freak barrels tend to be on the heavy side when it comes to barrel weight. This is a very good barrel kit to buy.

Cons: a bit heavy
like my pros said, it looks the best imo, out of any barrel i have tried. depends on your color scheme of course.

multiple bores alot of people say the labels on the bores are inaccurate but i've never looked at them. i always match the paint to bore on the spot, and about halfway through each day of play. never by labels. after all the same can be said for ANY paintball. SIZE WILL ALWAYS FLUCTUATE!!!

unlike some newer barrels the freak FEELS like it will take a beating, and i have definitely given it one. the three parts that make up the barrel do not wobble and there is no play between the components.

for cons i put it was heavy but really it was a good thing for me. i LIKE impulses, cockers, and all those other "bricks".

One of the best in my opinion. Either one (Freak or Freak Jr) are both great. Additional inserts are fairly cheap and a few options for fronts (and backs) is nice. I presonally like the All American front the best.

The inserts may be a little tough to get out if you happen to get a break but I've never had one I couldn't get out.

All in all a great barrel.

this is a all around amazing barrel I love how it can split into two different changeable peices (the front at least) and the changeabe bore sizes helps you in any kind of paint you have. I stick with .691 but the only qualms i have about it is how easy it scratches.. and trust me.. it scratches EASY so this is definetely worth the price, but if you looking for the top of the like the stiffi barrels take this over any day.

The Smart Parts Freak is a great barrel kit for those looking to have a wide variety of bore sizes. The barrels look decent, and are milled well, but just don't match the look of most guns. They are generic enough not to look ugly on almost all guns, unlike with some of the barrel kits available.

I've owned both stainless and aluminum inserts. The Aluminum ones are nice because they are color anodized and once you memorize which color corresponds to which size it's a much faster process. However I feel the Stainless steel backs are a much better product as they don't vary in size with weather, and they don't look worn as easily as the aluminum backs.

Either kit is a safe bet and now that Empire owns them they are readily available again. Not a bad choice

Great when you are using different paints every weekend and have different bore sizes. Especially lately when many paints have been getting to be slightly smaller bores than we saw in the past. Only complaint is that many guns don't look right with a freak, but that's hardly a complaint because performance is greater than appearance.

Pros: Mostly All
Cons: I dont like inserts, Stainless Steel Sucks
Looks - Appearance
The tips can be bought with a variety of colors, and the back is either the Aluminum Black or the Stainless Steel Back. I got the Stainless Steel Back and Inserts (Big Mistake) and a 14" All American Tip. Overall I think the looks are pretty good.

Accuracy - Performance
I have shot so many paint brands through this that I cant list them. From low grade stuff up to Chronic and other tournament paints. Since you can match the bore size the accuracy is supream on this, but over doing it a little. For practice I like to get one bore size bigger so I will get less barrel breaks. Only complaint with the barrel itself is that it dosnt clean out very well, I can shoot a whole hopper through it and the balls will still fly every where. So accuracy is good until you get a barrel break.

Sound Signature - Performance
This is maybe one of the most quiet barrels I have had, the All American tip has a lot of porting so this is really quiet. This really helps out on my Ego's. So this barrel definitally lowers the sound signature of your marker.

Weight - Performance
I got this when I was starting out and I was very unintelligent and didnt think this out very well. Why oh why?? Why did I buy stainless steel? Because it rains here so much??? Never. This back is very heavy and throws off the balance of the gun very badly. So I wouldnt ever recommend buying the stainless steel back unless anything you touch rusts on contact or you tend to snap barrels in half freaquently. The inserts are Stainless Steel too, but I dont mind those, they havent bent or anything like that so they are good.

Durable - Reliability
Having the stainless steel stuff, nothing on them have scratched, bent, broke, etc. The only thing would maybe be the All American tip, it has faded on the front. I expected this since basically any barrel you have with an annodizing will fade.

Bang4Buck - Value
I got this for $70 brand new. Im not sure what the current MSRP of the Stainless Steel kit is but im sure it isnt cheap. I never use this barrel anymore and I much prefer my Stiffi, UL, or Shaft Kit. If you are into the inserts and want something better, I would try and seek out the Scepter Kits, they are very good and I belive they are rare too. I guess this is a good barrel but there is better so keep your options open.

Disclaimer - Please Read
I take time on my reviews to make them honest and non-bias as possible, on most occasions I will spell check them and revise to. The point is I take a lot of time on this and do appreciate good ratings, or bad ratings if you feel it deserves it. Before rating please read the full review and base your ratings on my review and not the gear and my opinions on it, if you do I have no control over that but please do it just to be nice. Thanks - OTEdge
