i have shot proto reflex guns for 3 years every season a new gun
and i like them alot
in these years the reflex rail didn't change that much so i fillid in more than a year in the length of use

what do you get for your money

a nice proto marker case
the gun itself
2 piece barrel

right out of the box its a nice shooting gun

easy to maintain
setup is also pretty easy with 4 colors led and just count the blinks

after about 2 or 3 cases finetune it with the steps you can find in the manual
and you will have a great shooting gun for years

Pros: Identical to the DM series, as far as internals go
Cons: Swivel on the reg.
This was the first higher end marker that I purchased for myself (earlier got a new Ion for my birthday). This marker, right out of the case, is IDENTICAL to the Dye Matrix series, because it is made by Dye. The marker is very consistent, and is quite air efficient. I can play about 4-5 speedball games on a 68/4500.

More Pros -
-Eye Pipe. One of the top features of the entire marker in my opinion. First O ring on the bolt "squeegees" it clean every time it cycles. Also holds the detents.

-Hyper 3 regulator. This reg is great and is the same one (internally) that comes on the DM13

-UL Gripframe. Again, the same on the DM. Very ergonomic grip frame, positioned at a perfect 45 degree, with an hourglass figure so that your hand rests cleanly.

-Clamping feedneck. This marker has one of the best clamping feednecks in the game (in my opinion). Easy to load/unload your loader to the gun, and is easy to remove completely for cleaning.

-Bolt. The bolt come out of the back with a turn of the allen key. The bolt is designed in the 3 different parts, similar to other spool valves like the Luxe. It has a lot of O-rings, but should not deter you from maintenance. Easy to clean/re-lube.

Cons-
-Swivel on the reg. This hasn't given me any problems directly, but with playing snake, I can see the swivel being on the wrong side and hitting the ground too hard and possible breaking something.

-Macroline. This isn't really a con to me, but for some people, they just can't stand having the line there, and I can see where it would be a deterrent from the marker.

-Reg. Again, not a con for me, but I can see a problem for others. If you have bigger hands, you may not be able to grip the entire reg like you could on other markers, because the trigger guard protrudes out a little further. I have smaller and skinnier fingers, and I can't even fit my thumb between the reg and the trigger guard.

Things that bug me-
-The included allen keys are absolute CRUD. They aren't even ball ended. DP can put together an AMAZING allen key set for a mach lower priced marker, so why can't Dye?

-The swivel on the regulator is slightly annoying if you are the person who grips the reg with your whole hand (which you can't) because the macroline fitting swivels from one side of the reg to the other. I can see huge problems with diving and the fitting hitting the ground because of the swivel.
***Update***
I fixed the swivel. ANSgear sells a 45 degree swivel w/ fitting for 24.99, and it allows the marcroline to go STRAIGHT into the reg, not offset like original. The grip on the reg doesn't fit like before, but it will suffice. Feels a whole better for me.

This marker is a really solid feeling marker as well. It is built well and doesn't feel like it will break with hard use.

The Proto Reflex Rail is essentially a slightly dumbed down version of the DM series, and if you are looking at a DM12 or DM13, but the price tag makes you cringe, take a look at the PRR 2013. Extremely reliable, and hasn't given me a single problem yet.
