The Valken Proton simply put is the best bang for your buck tournament marker in the sub $400 range. The efficiency is good (I got ~1,500 shots off of a 68/45), it's light (1lb 2oz without a barrel), the feedneck is amazing because if you have it set right it'll be completely free in the open position and it will hold like a vise in the closed position, and the trigger is AMAZING in semi. Now onto the cons. The board is basic, easier tournament mode adjustments could definitely be implemented, I understand having the tournament lock be required but would it be too much to ask to be able to change the BPS of each mode without having to get the board reflashed? Also, the barrel is basic, not really a huge con since it's a nice barrel, but if it was a 14" barrel it could kill the competition without a doubt. The trigger was also pretty bouncy in anything other than semi, even after some pretty extreme adjustment it liked to bounce which was surprising considering the stiff trigger pull. Finally, this gun does not, and I mean does NOT like water. I played a day, crawled up to snake in some light rain, and by the time I got back to my truck the gun just wouldn't fire, got home, wouldn't fire. After I took it apart and wiped down the boards with a dry cloth (which came off damp) it finally wanted to fire again. Now I didn't list that as a con because that was partly my fault, but I know a lot of players (including myself) that occasionally have to fight through a tournament in the rain and this gun just wouldn't make it alive.
Now for the $325 I spent, this marker is by FAR the best in the $350 and under range. It's shot was quiet and smooth, the battery lasted for a few cases, the gun was nice and long (rivaling a Luxe), and it felt great in the hands. Does it get the efficiency of a Mini? No, but it is much better in almost every regard. This is one of the two guns that I can say without a doubt I regret letting go.

Bought used. Shot perfect out of the box. The stock barrel im not a fan of, but when I put my deadly winds with .682 on it... Shot ball on ball at about 50-75 feet. I was well impressed. Shot felt like a mix of luxe, and marq. For the price, I dont see how you cant own one. Very impressed.

I went out this last weekend, and I noticed a few things.
In semi, it was difficult to walk the trigger, I turned the marker off once while in a game (one of the first couple of games), but that was partly due to being my first day back playing paintball.
In ramping, it shot great, until every once in a while, it would automatically shoot without me touching the trigger. I think adjusting the trigger and changing the trigger debounce will improve it. I adjusted the debounce to 6 ms and tuned the trigger a little, and I shot a pod tonight (day after I played) and it didn't automatically fire, so it might be fix, next time I play I'll look for it.
I got this marker, brand new, for 250 + shipping on Ebay. Little beginner marker, if I fixed the automatically firing on ramping, I'll keep this and play in some local tournaments.
Great buy.
Rumors: I have heard this will start leaking after 5 cases of paint, but I have only used about 2000 shots through it, so I can't really tell you if this is true or not.

Valken Sports ProtonVery well packaged Marker. Shot great even in the cold. Easy to use and maintain. I just didn't like the way the grip felt or the small forward grip. Good entry level marker with high end features....

After some use the eyes tend to get dirty and cause the software to go into a safe mode. A Quick swab and back in business.
