I have used the etek since the beginning of the summer and made no changes to it out of the box except to add my freak barrel and the gun has performed exceptionally well.

In game play it has little kick, few chops (which can be attributed to the odd defective or weakened ball), is consistent, fast and is tight and maneuverable. The adjustable trigger is comfortable and the gun is well proportioned to accommodate large or small hands (left and right). The stock barrel performs well, i find my freak barrel more accurate but not by a huge margin. I've read complaints that the gun is 'loud' but keep in mind that is often in comparison to spool valve operated guns which tend to be quieter because of their design. It has a distinctive sound but it is not atrociously clamorous, and in my opinion the sacrifice in noise is worth the simpler and more robust design of a poppet. Using a 68/4500 tank i shot 500 balls per 1000 psi and a 9v battery will get at least 2 cases of paint (im estimating and rounding down, i tend to go several outings before changing)

The design of the gun is excellent. Bolt and rammer maintenance is simple and easy, and disassembling the gun for more thorough cleaning is easy too (the full colour manual and illustrations aid this as well). The tolerances of the gun are tight, I've never found water or contaminates between components or in the grip(including after being caught in a solid downpour outdoors). The parts kit that came with mine is more than enough to keep the gun running, ball detents, extra screws, and every variety of o-ring the gun needs, an excellent addition. I haven't found any sign of deterioration in the o-rings and seals yet, the original detents are still working fine.

I chose the AM because i prefer metal to plastic, a slight bias perhaps. My experience with plastics is they can degrade where metal, specifically aluminum, wont. Sunlight can damage plastics and degrade them. I actually looked to see if the glass reinforced nylons are deteriorated by sunlight and couldn't find anything about it. I also figured the option to upgrade might come in handy (the AM can accept some superfantastic board while the LT cant apparently).

some problems of note, the rubber back panel on the grip that covers the buttons can slide out of its groove. I haven't lost it yet, but i have caught it falling out. Not easily, but it can happen. I lost one grip screw (it has extras in the parts kit) presumably from being in too loose and turning out.

Overall its an excellent gun, Ive had no problems and would recommend it.

Cons: LOUD.... ASA
My brother bought this gun about a month ago and we have only played a few games with it.... Right out of the box the thing is loud as hell, and from what I gather there isn't much you can do to quiet it down. The hush bolt = waste of money, considering it doesn't hush that much, different barrels don't seem to make it any quieter either. The ASA is also a bit of a frustration. (It's nice having the air line run directly below the gun instead of off to one side but the on off knob rotates around the air line - Had to be a better way to do this)

After adjusting the trigger to desired position the marker performs like a dream. Consistent shots and compares to higher end electro markers. Very easy to change fire modes and all other settings, no need to remove the grip to change them. The marker is very light weight and fits comfortably in your hands (not too small) My brother just getting into the paintball world and loves this gun, If you don't mind the noise I would recommend picking one up.....
As always Planet eclipse makes a quality gun we will see how it performs in the future.....

This is my first marker. I have only played over a dozen games with it. For it being my first marker I am very happy with it. It took only about a half day to get use to the marker. Once I did it felt like a extension of my arm.

For woods the accuracy was OK but nothing great. I have all ready ordered some smaller barrels to fix this. When up close this marker it better then I could imagine. I had 5 hits in the hopper because as soon as the other team started to pop up I could hit him before being able to shoot at me.

Cons: LOUD Not as accurate as other markers
I have shot the Etek 3 and I bought my Etek 4 used with the APE Rampage OLED board because I had been out of paintball for about 7 years and wanting to get back into it again, I decided to go with this gun because of the decent reviews it had received. I have to say that coming from the autococker, this gun is not as accurate. It is still decently accurate for snap shooting up close to mid range, but don't try long balling with this thing.

Having shot the gun both with and without the rampage board, it is a fast gun and the OLED board just makes it faster and REALLY easy to program/setup the marker the way you want it. I have no problem going head to head with the higher end markers and coming out on top.

This gun is basically bullet proof when it comes to just being able to air up and go. The consistency is decent at +/-8 fps but it perfectly capable of being able to be taken out of the box and played with. It also is very easy on paint. I usually only break about 1 in a 1000 or so and that's in the barrel in the cold (50F weather) so I don't count that too bad.

Overall I agree with the assessment that this is a great gun for someone getting into the sport and being able to hold their own right off the bat. It is definitely worth the money and a gun like this would have been twice as much 6 years ago. Great Gun Go Buy It

I bought a tech t hush bolt and run it with a freak kit and its still loud.

Spent the extra money for the AM version, as it feels very durable. Shooting this gun with a freak barrel kit makes this one of my favorite markers in its price range.
