Pros: cheap, reliable, looks good
Cons: stock barrell, limited upgrades
I just started playing this year and I went to my local paintball shop looking for a Tippmann 98 Custom new. The local shop didn't sell them so he talked to me about the Valken SW-1. I have not had an issue with this gun yet it works like expected and has some upgrades over similar markers. The removable feed makes it easy to clean and the hopper clamp is another awesome feature. This gun is good for woodsball but needs an upgraded barrel to perform well which is why I got a 14" Lapco Big shot barrel. The only time I've had chops in this marker is when I use crap paint that is old.

Cons: Stock Barrel is awful and must be upgraded. The upgrades are weird because it uses 3 different markers for parts. For barrels and foregrips you can use any A5 or BT 4 barrels. For stocks you can use Tippmann custom 98 stocks. I just recently found that can use BT 4 egrip to upgrade my trigger.

Pros: clamping feedneck, adjustable fore grip
Cons: picky about power source, no e-trig or response
This is a good alternative to the Tippmann 98C. Except (and this is a big except) they

1) Have a hard time chronogeaphing above 265 on some HPA tanks (me and 2 of my friends own these markers and we have Guerilla and Pure Energy HPA tanks and they do not have the output pressures req'd to get the SP-1 over 265. A Ninja tank with an extra silver shim or CO2 will work perfectly though.).

2) No trigger upgrade options that I have come across as of 7/16/12. You should check that though, because I expect that they will make something in the near future.

They take A-5 barrel threads. If you are using CO2 or if you have a ninja tank I think that it is better than the 98C (the e-trigger/RT thing is not a big deal to me, and I think they will put one out soon). They have a lot of scenarion type upgrades for them too (fore grips, carry handles, stocks, bi-pods, all that stuff). I love the clamping feedneck!

I have had a couple 98C's by the way and I have a bob long timmy for speedball, as well as an ion with some ups that I occasionally use for speedball and woodsball. This gun is kind of a novelty thing for me, and a fun woodsball option.

Cons: bolt problems
When I first bought this marker it worked great.I even bought a Halo too hopper for it and it worked even better! But then it started to break paint inside the marker. So I took it to my local paintball shop to find out the problem. The problem was that it wasn't lubricated properly.I didnt know I was supposed to put 2 drops of lubricant in the place where you put your airtank in.After doing all that it started working great again. So make sure you lube properly with a reasonable amount of lube so it works great.

Pros: Durable, Reliable. Chops rarely.
Cons: Loud. Cheap grip, Lots of plastic.
So to get started, this gun was my first gun i ever used. This is basicly a Tippman 98 custom, with cheaper parts and lighter weight. The guns overall performance is loud, Doesent shoot straight, and chops rarley... maybe 1 out of 500 balls. One thing i was impressed is that i had the gun for 5 months , havent oiled the gun once ( stupidity) and it never broke down once except for a o-ring one time.

Pros: Nice sleek design and low weight
Cons: None at this time!
I like the SW-1 As it seems as if the designers of this markers sa3w the flaws with the Tippmann 98 Custom and the BT Combat and made adjustments to it in turn creating a better marker both in appearance and weight. The marker seems to be a tighter desn thus enabling more option for the marker. Also on its release it came with a slue of optional configurations that could be purchased and attached to give the marker a whole new look. I would like to see Valken come up with full body shrouds fgor this marker like the Tippmann markers had been made available though at this time it seems like the Tippmann after market shrouds have almost disappeared. This is a side of the mrket where Valken could pick up and dominate. To include their customer service professionalism and efforts to reach out and give back to the paintball community.
