Bought the Macdev Drone DX today brand new from my local feild Annandale Paintball(5/27/12). first impresion was that it was packed very nicely. First looking at the gun online i thought the milling looked bad but when i saw it in person it looks better.

Pros- I have shot Smart parts shockers for most of my time playing paintball(over 10 years) and still currently have a ST SFT shocker in my gearbag. when smart parts went under i thought i wouldnt find another gun like the shocker but then i found the Drone. The guns drive train is like that of the shocker(minus the bolt guide) and shoots just as smooth as a shocker. Out of the box brand new I was getting about 9 pods off a 68/4500(shooting RPS Premium Gold with freak barrel with a .689 insert). So the consistancy/shots per fill was great. Over the chrono i was shooting 278 +/-3(remeber this was right out of the box). The guns milling does look different compared to most guns on todays market and may not be for everyone but i think it looks good. I just sat down and ripped apart the whole gun/put it back togather and it only took me about 30min. the drive train only has(iI think) 3 moving orings so that means in the long run less maintance/leaks and easier fixs. the board is very easy to program if you are use to standard LED board settings(hold down the trigger, turn on, and there you go). It looks like acouple people havent liked the grips but i love then I'm a huge fan of thin frames/grips and they fit perfeclty in my hands.
Cons- The gun did come with a dead batterie(but thats not a big deal). when going threw the case i thought the gun didnt come with any orings/detents/screws like most guns do but then i found a small bag with only 3 orings. I was very disapointed in that becuse i have no way to readly replace any lost screws or damaged detents. i was hoping to atleast get a small replacement kit that is included with most guns in its price range(Etek3's, Empire Axes, Ethas, Proto Rails).
overall compairing it to other guns in its price range like the Empire Axe,Planet Eclipse Etek3 and Etha. I'd say it is a Great Gun!!!. I recently shot the Empire Axe for alittle over a seasons and liked it but i would gladly pick a Macdev Drone over the Axe. I have yet to deal with Macdev direclty so i have no comment on their customer service.

I purchased my drone DX at the end of January. Overall a fantastic gun, however it has a couple design flaws. One i had just experienced a problem with is the poop board design. I was changing the battery when i placed it in backwards and blew the capacitor. During the tournament the next day i had to change the battery every two games. I contacted macdev support and they are taking care of it under warranty.
One slight design flaw would be the macro line. i perfer in line but nothing major will come from this.
Overall this gun is great. Preferably the LED board should be replaced by a screen board. Especially for the price. As it comes, i see a fair price being $400 - $450. I believe with an upgrade to the clone board this gun would perform on a much higher level.
I am happy with the choice i made in purchasing this gun and would recommend it as a great marker, competitive with the etek and older egos.

I just got mine and im very impressed. The only thing it needed right out of the box was a new 9volt. Shot 1000 balls through it mainly on full auto just for the fun of it. I was very surprised how accurate it shot. It seems a little loud compared to my old outkast autococker but that doesnt bother me at all. Cant wait to go play with this thing, If you are looking to spend around $500 this is the way to go.

This gun is pretty underrated. It feels great in the hands and is a great shooting gun. Comes with a great case as well as other accessories. I had one issue where I believe the pressure was too high in my reg and I blew apart a plastic piece on the noid. Although it may have been user error, the fact that there was a fragile plastic piece on the noid was alarming. I replaced it for $5 from macdev and it shoots great now. I have had some issues with cold weather as well.

I really like the Drone DX. When compared to other markers in its category (Axe, Mini, Etek), I feel the Drone blows others out of the water.
It shoots so smooth for a mid-level tourney marker. Once broken in it is pretty decent on air.
The ease of maintenance is another benefit. Once it has gone through about 4 cases of paint I can have it stripped down and cleaned in under 10 minutes. The reg is just as easy.
The only real complaint I have is the CS support. They are hit or miss. If MacDev can improve on this I feel they will be one of the top marker manufacturer.

Ok so iv had this gun about 8 months now and iv played a few turnaments with and its not bad but its not the best eaither. I would only use it for PSP because the trigger honestly is one of the worst triggers iv had on a gun. if you wana use it in NPPL you need a new trigger or a new gun thats up to you. Iv put well over a 100 cases of paint through mine and I can honestly say iv only had about 6 or so brakes and i use high end and low end paint. It dose really well on air i can get a hopper and 6 pods through it. Ok now for my main Con. The ASA is something iv never seen before and never wana see agian honestly. its you loose air when you screw it in.
