When I first got these knee pads they were great! They saved me from sliding my knee cap into a tree stump which was awesome. Unfortunately their sizing tends to be a problem, the XL was super tight on my legs. Also after about 10 months or so of use (about twice a month) they started to have real slipping issues when I play. Now every time I play the skin rubs right off my knees. All in all they are great but just be sure to switch them out once they start slipping.

the design is fantastic, the velcro they use is excellent, and the open mesh backing looks like it breaths better than DYE's neoprene, i got tired of my dye knee pads slipping from me sweating, which was causing the skin to get rubbed raw when id slide
the terrycolth liner was one of the things that drew me to these pads. they only go up in size to XL. and unlike their pants, the pads fit true to size, which means that i can barely get these over my calf's, and bending my knees is a really bad idea
i contacted empire about the size issue last year on their face book page, they told me i should look forward to their upcoming 2012 line of gear.. to which they didn't introduce a new line of protective pads, which means these are still the newest they make, therefore, im still out of luck on using empire pads
