Got my hands on Tippmann's new camo line. The Special Forces camo jersey and pants. I'm pretty hard on my camo, but I haven't had a chance to field test these yet. So I wore them to work. Just to start, I should have washed them first. It helps with the swishyness. After the wash they got quieter.
Now for the positives. These pants rock. First, they are a solid fabric outer layer with a breathable mesh inner layer. I own a set of fusion ultralites, and the problem with the mesh on the outside is that it catches on briars, thorns, bunkers,... anything with a slightly rough surface. I crawled into an attic with these and they just slid on through with no snags. Another nice improvement is the padded knees and zipper. I like the cusion on the knees to help with that errant rock behind a bunker. You never know when you'll need the zipper padding, but you'll be glad it's there if you do.
Also new with these is added elastic in the extra wear areas - behind the knees and in the groin. Definitely adds some extra flexibility to the pants, and it's pretty thick, but it still breathes. That's a nice perk for a 90 degree boiler room or any summer paintball event. .
The cargo pockets have a new addition - a map/id pocket. If you don't want to wear the vest - now you have a new place to stash your ID and maps. I'm going to give it a try at Living Legends and let you know how well it works. I'm also going to try the integrated pistol holster loops (which sold me instantly, because I HATE IT when my pistols drag my pants down).
The jersey has some new features too, along with some standards. Velcro event patch backer on the sleeves is handy, but the area around it now - shoulders and forearms, are padded. Not too much to make it bulky, but enough to make a difference. And the addition of mesh under the arms and down the torso is a big plus also.
So far, it's my favorite set of camo. Worth the upgrade in my opinion.
