The Empire Axe is a great gun. The price is significantly lower than that of most high end electro's on the market, but the performance is on par with them in almost every way.

The Axe is easy to tune to maximize efficiency or softness. Will it ever be the most efficient gun on the field- no. But there are plenty of options for you to maximize its performance. Several companies make aftermarket accessories (boards, bolts, eyes, etc.) that allow you to further customize your gun.

Another great stock feature of the Axe is the Relay ASA. A simple lever turns your air on and off. It also has a convenient pressure gauge.

The looks of the Axe are average - nothing special, nothing terrible. It feels good in the hands, which is all personal preference. It comes in a variety of colors, and parts can be switched with other axes to create even more color combos.

For the price, the Empire Axe can't be beat. Out of the box, it's a great gun, and with some extra money spent on aftermarket accessories, it is right up there with the other super guns on the market. If you don't believe me, just take a look at the winners of the 2012 NPPL Huntington Beach tournament - they were using Axes

Pros: reliable, smooth, efficient.
Cons: everyone has one
So I have had my Empire Axe (PRO) for just about 7 months now and I am impressed. This marker has not once broke down on me.. I went from a luxe to the axe so it was night and day reliability difference. The luxe is smoother but it is one of those super expensive, smooth markers.. With my Axe, I have the boss bolt put in so it is buttery smooth. We were playing a little scrum at a local field and my friend had my marker and off the break shot a shot at our friend on the field.. no one heard it (it is just that quiet). And yes, I KNOW THAT WAS WRONG, WHATEVER. Anyway, It is really really reliable and really quiet and smooth. Great for the money.

Empire Axe Love it for the price, but the stock board doesn't save the settings when you change the battery. I put the Redline on and then really enjoyed the marker.

After shooting a luxe for about 3 years, decided to spend my tax return and get an Axe. Needless to say, it may not be as smooth as my luxe but definitely a solid shooting marker. I have no problem picking this marker up over my luxe any day. Aside from the heavy marketing that Empire has invested in with the Pro teams, I honestly feel that Empire have outdone themselves with the Axe. The only thing I'm not to fond of is the inability to service the regulator as it voids the warranty if you try to do so yourself.

I've owned my Axe for a while now and I can honestly say it is the best marker I've ever owned. I've never had any big problems with it, besides a small occasional leak that can be fixed by regularly lubing it. It is an excellent mid-range marker and cannot be beat for the price. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a good, cheap marker.

Price paid: $518.00
Pros: Light, Cost, Efficient, Versatility, ITS EMPIRE!!
Cons: Dwell sensitive
Current Setup: Empire Axe Pro w/ Redline OLED board, and freak kit.

I bought the aXe from my local field shop for 499 with the Redline and freak kit and I have to say I am very impressed. I have been using an Empire Mini and the difference in performance is only seen in the minor upgrades. The aXe is not much heavier then the Mini. The back-out bolt system is a life saver on the field if you get a bad ball in the breech which is rare with the reliable bolt system. and the added space from grip to fore grip is definitely more agronomic and easy to hold.

Pros: Light weight, efficient ( I can get 7 pods and a hopper out of a 45/4500), the stock Shockwave board is acceptable, amount of kit you get for the price, Empire costumer services is still one of the best in the business, abundant amount of upgrades available, generous amount of SE color choices if you don't mind the added price.

Cons: Could get a Mini and see the same performance and efficiency out of box, the dwell setting is very sensitive to new internal bolt upgrades ( it took about half a case to get my boss bolt working right ), your still paying 500 bucks for a stock gun but hey, go nuts.

The Redline upgrade is pricy and unnecessary but it is one hell of a toy and tool when you ignore the price. The settings are easy and user friendly, and the OLED scene is bright enough once you adjust it. If you are going to get the Redline don't wait, buy the pro aXe and get it for 100 bucks cheaper.

Overall the aXe is a reliable efficient marker even by high end standards. Due to its price, hard body construction and coverage from Empire, I would feel much better taking it into the woods for some good ol'fashioned down and dirty hardcore rec ball. Even with its solid build this marker is fluid enough and light enough to keep up the pace on speed ball games as well. To sum it up you wont find anything that has this much for the price tag.
