AKALMP - Sidewinder Reviews
AKALMP Sidewinder Ive had my sidewinder on my Excal for years and its still going strong. Easy to clean and maintain. Only down side is that its a bit long for my taste.

Pros: As consistent as death & taxes.
Cons: Not pretty.
Bought a Sidewinder maybe 3 yrs ago and i've been using this same one on nearly every gun i've owned since and i will continue to use it until it totally dies (which will most likely not be in my lifetime).

It's the most reliable & consistent reg i've ever owned, although i can really only compare it to Torpedos (old & new), a Hyper 2, a stock Ion reg & a stock Interceptor reg. All those were good but my Sidewinder was shot for shot a little bit better (much much better than the stock Ceptor reg, which i never quite got to work well... possibly needed a longer break-in period).

Haven't got exact numbers but i haven't exactly had the time or forethought to test. Plenty of other people have done so already, anyway.

As for the looks, it is really simple. But it's a testament to AKA - concerned with performance and nothing else.

Pros: Swivels! Recharge.
Cons: It's just a cylinder shape, kind of plain.
The swiveling is really cool. You can work with a steel line with ease.

The regulator recharges quickly too.

For those who care, the shape is kind of ordinary, especially with the advent of the Hyper 3. I'm not one of those who care though.

Not much else to say. It is a reg that's worth the money.

Appearance: It's just a tube, but the anodizing is nice. At least it flows with everything.
Performance: yes, it swivels, and it is cool. Recharges fast too.
Reliability: I've since fixed the leak from when I first got it used. No problems since.
Value: yes, this is a good regulator to get at its price range.

Ive used several Sidewinders over the years, all have been great. The medium length is super long and the long length is just absurdly long. The short length is just right for any marker and anyone. I dont even know why other lengths are made. The regulator has excellent recharge, its very consistent and the swivel bottom is convenient.

This is probably the best inline regulator on the market; and for the price, you certainly can't beat it. Very consistent, easy to adjust, and holds its anodize well.

It comes in different sizes, which is really handy, and I'm surprised other regs don't copy this as well. The swivel bottom makes it easy to adjust where you want your macro - no more weird coils, and it won't get in the way. Throw a straight fitting on it straight to your ASA and its a very good setup.

absolutely the most consistent reg I have ever used. The recharge rate is a little lower then the monster 2liter...but for someone that wants the most reliable reg ever, this one is for you. I have had my 2liter rebuilt arleady by AKA for a blown Piston O-ring...I have never had one single problem with the SIdewinder.... #1 in Reliability and Consistency...

AKALMP Sidewinder One of the best regulators available. I have quite a few of them. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

AKALMP Sidewinder Very consistent reg, easy to use. Macro fitting on the bottom lines up with the direct asa's like pops and gear drives. Plain look but is that really a down side?

in my opinion, still the best reg available, its an incredible simple design that just works, its easy to adjust, its more consistent than anything else out there. they are easy to clean, easy to take apart and put back together, i use them on every gun i can put one on

its such a simple design, means that there's very little that can go wrong

it might not be the prettiest reg (literally a tube of metal) but oddly enough, its aesthetics work with pretty much any gun ive ever seen one on..

if you you've never tried one, you should. i promise you'll never go back to your old reg again

The engineers at AKA are wizards. This reg is boringly consistent. It improved every single gun I ever used it on. The swivel thing is just icing on the cake. As for looks, I like simple. A tube is the perfect look so I am on board with this design 100%. I cant really find anything bad to say about it.
