Cons: Heavy, Shroud is plastic
!!!NOTE!!!-This is a review on the standard Tippmann Alpha Black/Bravo One Tactical, not an E-grip.
The gun is very reliable and shoots well out of the box. For maximum performance I would reccomend getting a couple of upgrades such as a longer barrel (16"+ is good), a new shroud for two reasons: a more realistic feel and some picatinny rails because there are none on the gun. And maybe a cyclone feed.

I have owned this gun for 2 months and I have had no breaks yet. The fire rate is a bit slow but, the E-grip will give you nothing but problems.

Also it comes with a pretty nice adjustable car stock for a military type feel.

Good for Scenario, Woodsball and Recball. (you can use for speedball but you will look like a retard ).

Pros: Looks, Reliability, Performance
Cons: Plastic exterior parts
You get what you pay for with the Tippmann Alpha Black. The marker uses T98 internals. The marker uses a T98 barrel. The marker is, for all intents and purposes, a Tippmann 98 with an electronic grip and body work. That is not a problem.

Tippmanns are widely hailed as the standard for scenario paintball guns. Reliable, durable, long-lasting, simple...they are praised for their ease of use and extensive ability to be customized, well, extensively. The Alpha Black saves you the trouble of purchasing extra parts such as stocks, grips, and sights individually by coming pre-assembled as an M16 carbine replica. Many people fork out hundreds of dollars buying a magazine or clip, a matching stock, a mil-sim sight; items that provide only aesthetic benefits but cost enough to purchase an entirely new gun.

The Alpha Black is ideal for people who want the reliability of a Tippmann, the speed of an electronic gun, and the out-of-the-box look of an M16 assault rifle. The gun looks great and shoots equally well. I have never experienced a barrel break and shoot exclusively CO2. Even with the stock 8 inch barrel, the marker is surprisingly accurate. Add in an apex barrel ($34) and a cyclone hopper ($60), and you've got yourself a formidable woodsball weapon.

Positives:
-Excellent mil-sim design
-Magazine acts a holder for allen wrenches, other small items such as lube
-Runs fine on CO2 or compressed air
-Accurate
-Extremely reliable
-Internally durable
-Long battery life
-Very fair pricing

Negatives:
-Changing modes on the E-grip requires an allen wrench; is time consuming
-Plastic external items (barrel grip, magazine)
-Heavy if air supply is attached to gun
-Only viable for woodsball. Hyperball/Speedball = not recommended

Pros: Shoots reletively fast
Cons: Too many to name
I have had my alpha black with the e grip for nearly 2 years now. Since then I have played a lot of paintball with it and I know this gun inside and out. Here is my review:

Pros: Shoots fast with the e grip, relatively quiet, never broke a ball, and looks like an m16...sort of.

Cons: Innaccurate with barrels under 16 inches, battery compartment needs to be unscrewed with allen keys(not field friendly), to turn on the trigger you need an alan key to press the button located on the front of the handle underneath the trigger(also not field friendly), the carry handle makes it awkward for most electronic hoppers which is neccessary for the e grip, and with the location of the battery and electronics makes it a gun you cannot play in the rain with and depend on.

this gun works relatively great if you play recreationaly and in good weather...scenario players or new scenario players, this is not the gun for you. I play scenario a lot and that means I play in all kinds of weather all the time, this gun does not like the cold weather at all! And it does not work in the rain very well either, it starts skipping shots and not letting you pull back the trigger. Once you get this gun wet, everything goes down hill. This gun recquires more TLC than most of it's calibure. Now the alpha black is not a terrible gun! Don't get me wrong but if you are looking into the alpha black e grip I suggest you don't get it unless you are ready to have these problems, I would suggest the alpha black without the e grip. Just the regular trigger, it's a lot better. Granted it shoots 4 balls a second slower, heck it saves you money on paint. So any questions just shoot me a pm and i will try and help you with your decision or problems you are having with this marker.

Pros: Looks, Tippmann-level performance (rugged!)
Cons: Heavy, when fully loaded & tank attached
I've had my Alpha Black Tactical w/ E-grip for about 2 and a half years now, and I have to say - it stepped up my game. Prior to owning my Alpha Black, I owned a Spyder MR-1. It was a STBB (stacked-tube blow-back) marker, and didn't quite have the mil-sim style that I was truly after. I tried a PCS US-5 for a bit, still not finding what I was looking for, and finally got my Alpha. Since then, I've had absolutely no problems of any kind. When I purchased it, I had the retailer install a Cyclone kit, and I promptly put on a J&J aftermarket barrel. I prefer J&J barrels over most other companies. The Cyclone has no problems keeping up with my rate of fire, and the Allen Pursuit Products T4 Offset hopper I put on it keeps the Cyclone fed just fine (it holds 400+ paintballs). As for complaints about "accuracy" - Just what exactly *is* accuracy when you're talking about paintball? There isn't a marker made yet that can put 2 balls in exactly the same spot twice in a row. Expecting a budget marker like this to perform like a real firearm, or even another marker costing 10 times as much is silly. It's an excellent marker at it's price-point, and performs well when operated with knowledge and care, just like any other marker. Most electros will malfunction in wet conditions, and nearly all paintball guns dislike extreme hot & cold temperatures. The only complaint that I will agree with about this marker is that the power button & function light need to be relocated somewhere easier to activate. Even if they were still recessed, and required an hex key to use, putting them on the front of the grip is just awkward and annoying. Overall, I give this marker 4.75/5 stars. It's not perfect, but definitely in the top 25% of it's class.

Tippmann Sports US Army Alpha Black E grip this gun looks cool. but it is very heavy and hard to clean. its hard to turn on and the auto shut off does not work. speedball guns are better because you can use them in the woods and in tournaments

Cons: Low accuracy,
I enjoy using this gun, it was my first ever paintball gun, and it should probably only be used by beginners, because more skilled/experienced people would need a bit more accuracy. Good gun for Budget Ballers.
I gotta say, 7/10.
BTW I'm reviewing the one without E-Grip, because Egrip will just mess everything up...

Cons: Heavy
Appearance- gun it self has a very nice Army Style M16 look and it can be highly modified to make it look how every you like- 6*

Performance-Gun Runs great, E-trigger + Cyclone feed still no chops.- 6*

Reliability- Like all tippmanns they are built to be rough and this marker is no different full solid Marker, i have done everything to my marker still works like new. I play in rain, snow, Desert areas no problems with it (keep it oiled up and clean after each use)- 6*

Value- the value is great, very good deal, making a custom 98, A5. X7 or any other tippmann look the way this marker looks from shop would cost u a good amount so i say it is a good price

like with any other marker if you keep it clean and lubed up it will run to its best.

I got the alpha black as my first marker before even playing my first game. I ended up getting an apex barrel which really helped add the little bit of accuracy that the gun needs to compete with speedballers'. Good entry level gun, however, as i'm really enjoying playing, i'm upgrading to a better marker.
