This is a great pump gun in my book. Its light, smooth, and reliable. The bolt out the back design is cool and is very easy to clean and the pumping action is veryy smooth. It is actually on the quiet side as well which is nice, but it has tedancy to "fart". The stock barrel was really cool too, it had an oring on the back as an extra detent to prevent the rollies from coming out. However, the twistlock feedneck isn't to great, I recommend getting a nice aftermarket feedneck. Overall, this is an excelent marker for the price or if your new to pump. A++

I've been reading so much positive press on this marker ever since it came out last year that I just had to get my hands on one.

Azodin Kaos Pump (KP)

Packaging:

The Kaos Pump came in a nice thin two piece cardboard box. When I removed the lid I was greeted by the marker itself, nestled in form fitting cardboard and covered with a sheet of bubble wrap. It came packaged with a barrel, Azodin barrel bag, a complete rebuild kit(orings, screws, and a spare cup seal), a manual, and a uninstalled 'hitman' rod. The manual is simple and straightforward. It outlines the basics(maintenence, breakdown, and velocity adjustment) but itsn't anything too impressive.

First Impressions:

I have to say that my first impressions were very good. The marker doesn't feel 'cheap' at all. The milling is nice and the dust black ano is flawless. I was going down the list of features in my head and I still can't believe that it all came stock in a sub $150 marker. It's got a clamping feedneck, a very nice pump kit, a stock 'hitman' rod, delrin bolt, ion threaded clamping feedneck, cocker threads, and the gripframe has a buld-in rail in addition to being able to take standard 2 hole bottomlines. I was leary about a double trigger on a pump, but it's actually quite comfotable. Everything feels quality. I think the only thing that struck me as odd was that it has no stock regulator, instead it has a gas thru. I'm assuming that's to keep cost down and also because most players upgrade HPR's anyways. I should mention that it doesnt' NEED an HPR, but having one allows you to really fine tune it.

Pump Stroke:

I really am having a hard time understanding how the stock pump kit on here can be so damn good with the cost of this marker. The pump kit has it's own built in pump guide that eliminates side to side play in the handle. The pump grip itself is matching dust black aluminum and is threaded on the bottom to accept the included SS hitman rod. The pumpstroke is very smooth and firm(no sloppy side to side play in the handle). Due to the design of the KP(stack tube), the amount of resistance on the pumpstroke is going to be dependant on the mainspring. That said, it's fairly light in it's stock form but mine is a bit heavy as I replaced the mainspring with a stiffer one to lower the operating pressure. I'll elaborate on this later. Heavy, but super smooth. I can feel a bit of drag on it when I pump via the hitman rod, but none when I hold the handle. With the stock spring I can't feel the drag with the hitman rod at all.

Teardown and Maintenance:

The first thing I did with my KP was a complete teardown, inspection, and lube. One of the nicest things about this amrker is how simple it is. The bolt slides out the back once you lift on the pull pin. Next, the rear cap unscrews without tools and the mainspring and hammer can be accessed. The gripframe is held on with two screws, as is the ASA. All in all it took about 7 minutes to dissassemble, lude, and reassemble the entire marker. There we no aluminum burrs and the marker appeared to have a small amount of lube in it from the factory. All good here.

Performance:

I haven't had a chance to shoot it too much yet but so far this is what I've got... It's damn quiet(after getting rid of the 'farting' sound - see below) and shoots darts. There is slight recoil when it shoots, but nothing major. I haven't tried the stock barrel yet, I went right to my empire kit.

The only gripe I would have so far is that it does make a brief 'farting' sound in it's stock form. This doesn't affect performance but it is annoying, and loud. From what I've read it's an issue of airflow vs valve design. I added a HPR and turned the input pressure down a few hundred PSI in addition to increasing the tension of the mainspring. This eliminated the noise but it also increased the weight of the pumpstroke. I plan to pickup a high flow valve soon and return to the stock spring. Azodin just released a high flow valve, and AKA and 32* made some high flow valves for spyders that are drop in upgrades for the KP. I'll get one of them and see how they do.

I'm curious about the barrel. It has a patented 'Triad' ball retention system to reduce rollouts. It basically has an oring and 3 'nicks' in a groove in the barrel end. that allow the oring to 'peek' through the breach and hug the ball. I've heard good and bad about this. Some say it will cause chops, others don't. After I can get a few hundred rounds through it I'll update with my thoughts.

My setup:
Azodin KP(Obviously)
Azodin Hitman Rod
Bob Long Torpedo Reg
Empire Barrel kit
GenXGlobal pocket hopper
47/3000 Centerflag HPA(preset 850psi)

Personal closing thoughts:

So far, I'm very impressed with initial quality. It's loaded with features and came stock with a full repair kit. Teardown is a cinch and has pretty smooth operation. Honestly, I'd expect a pump with these features that shoots this nice to cost double what these go for new. If you want to pick up a really nice pump that's loaded with features without dumping $300-500, buy one.

Pros: Light
Cons: Hitman mod isn't very good
I picked this gun up brand new and when it came in I was fairly happy with it. This gun is very light and performs well. The kaos comes stock with a silver or black hitman mod, an azodin barrel condom, orings, allen keys, and a few extra parts. The kaos' hitman mod is not very good because when you pump the gun it seems like it is sticking so it's not a smooth pump stroke. The stock barrel on the azodin kaos is pretty cool because it was an oring grooved into the base of the barrel that serves purpose as a ball retention system which I found useful. Other than the hitman mod sticking this is a good entry level pump if someone wanted to try pump paintball.

the gun is overall one of the best pumps ive played with. it feels incredably great in the hands with the hitman mod. the only thing it needs is a regulator, i put one on mine and it shoots perfect; ball after ball, the triad detent setup in the barrel is awesome but, only if you are using a small ball(it will break the oring in the barrel) i reccomend anything under .686. but, its definatly worth the price and with some good upgrades you will have a great pump that will last a very long time.

i traded a proto slg and got the azodin kaos pump 2011 and $40. its a nice shooting pump. has a really smooth easy pump stroke. comes with double trigger frame, im not a bug fan of it. its loud and farts but shoots nice. if your buying it new for $180, buy a nice cocker instead bcuz they are more customizable and dont fart like this gun does. but over all its a reliable pump.

The gun is a great buy. people get them anywhere from $80-$150 and for the price it does great. The pump action is easy and very cumfortable and it can even get the hitman mod on it but def not my thing. There is a thing that i would complaing about the stock pump.
1.The balles roll out of barrel and that is very anoying and causes for bad consistency. As soon as you pump the pump and put it bellow horizontal the ball will roll and depending on how far it gets it will affect how the ball will fly. At first it was a big problem however just waiting to pump right before you shoot is no problem. however if your moving up and didnt see that someone was where they wernt supposed to be gl sending of a shot first.

All in all if i DONT find a solution for the balls rolling out i would have to say to pass on the pump and probbably get a phantom. however if i do find one then i think that for $100 this gun is great.
