I love this marker. The reason why there is a cult following (I am included in that group) because it does what it should every single time. Put the marker away for years. Oil it up and fires like it did when you played last. Super easy to clean and I have no issues keeping up with all the newer faster markers today. It is worth every penny you pay and you can customize it with a lot of stuff that is out there. It is getting harder to find stuff but there is still a lot out there. I recommend a ULE body for it and you should be good to go.

I got mine with the stock rail, carbon fiber single trigger frame, stock power feed body and classic valve with 4 stars still on it a while ago. The markings on the gun indicate it was a rental in its former life, so it was not surprising to see gunk all over the inside of the gun and the main spring rusting. A quick cleaning session and a new spring later and it is working great again. (actually it might even have worked without the cleaning, but we won't know now)
that's all that's needed to be say about its reliability. It's also a very small gun with lots of upgrading options, not unlike the Ion, except this gun did it first.
From the stock stainless power feed body you could go with steel bodies of other feeding styles, ULE body, or if you are lucky like me, find a Z-body. With the latter 2, you can use cocker threaded barrels too, but the twist lock is kind of cooler.
The trigger frame can be swapped for a double trigger (Intelliframe, Y-frame, Z-frame, etc etc) with ULT installed, an aftermarket electric sear tripper trigger, or even home-modded to pneumatic.
Classic valve can be upgraded to ReTro, E-Mag, or X Valve, with or without Level X bolt, depending on how much you can afford, and there are equally endless options for the rail.
How you want to mount the tank is up to you also. Want a foregrip? Get it! Want to keep it a pistol? Do it! Bottomline like everyone else? Go ahead! Back bottle the old school way? This gun can do it too!
I'm not really liking the foregrip placement though. It doesn't leave much gap between itself and the frame. I have since gotten a foregrip extender and was happy.
It also eats gas a little bit...
Appearance: looks was never the point. This gun was meant to perform.
Performance: The modular design lets you change the performance to exactly what you want.
Reliability: it's an old rusted rental that got a second life, I can't say it's not reliable...
Value: these guns hold their value, especially if you buy used these days. They rarely go bad and when they do a repair kit is usually all that is needed.

I've owned multiples of pretty much ever kind on mag over the years, the 68 automag is no exception. It's a mag, can take a beating and won't let you down...here's the skinny...
Looks - Mags typically come stock in a blasted grey PF or SF body with a carbon fiber gripframe. It isn't the most attractive marker in the world. There are a ton of things you can do to make it purdy though. Splash kits, gripframes and polished or ULE bodies are all great on these. I based the rating on the STOCK marker though.
Performance - It's a mag. If you're unfamiliar with mags it is rediculiously reliable and durable. The classic valve will get you average efficiency, nothing to write home about, and is very consistant. It has a descent recharge rate and you can achieve low-mid teens as far as ROF goes with a little trigger practice and an upgraded gripframe. It will work well if properly setup on CO2 as well as HPA. It is a well balanced marker and feels very solid, it is hard to find a better quality marker than AGD.
Maintenance - Rediculiously easy markers to maintain. One thumbscrew and you can remove the entire valve/bolt assembly to clean/lube. Another allen screw and the gripframe/rail/body come apart. There isn't much that can go wrong with these, an oring is usually the only thing you ever see go bad over time in these.
Value - Mags in general have a pretty sturdy resale value and even if you buy one brand new, it will outlive you. I'd call that a worthwhile investment.
It should also be mentioned that there are a slew of aftermarket upgrades for any type of mag from bodies to gripframes to rails and valves so you can customize your marker to fit your own play style.

In April last year (2007) I traded my Tacamo type 68 for this. When I recieved the marker from the friend I traded to it had been sitting for a while. My friend had told me all about how good it was and that parts may be a little hard to get but that it never went down. As I got to a game I filled my air tank my friend told me that it was going to get a little time getting used to it and that I would have to pull the trigger all the way. At this point I was confused and he told me that I would find out. So I took this marker to the chrono and shoot WOOSH all my paint was all coming out my barrel. My friend yelled at me "Shoot but pull the trigger all the way" I did. From that point I have loved this marker. It is a little on the heavy side. But all that can be fixed with a new body and valve. The shooting of this gun is excellent, it takes a while to learn on how to not short stroke. It is a real smooth shot with kick comparible to that of a PM if tuned correctly. Efficency wise it could be better but I am not complaining just because it shoots so great. The looks of the original stainless steel body is a little weird but different bodies are available. For anything needed visit the Automag forum's BST (Automags.org) as since this is a cult marker parts can be hard to get but since it is a mag community there are parts and the general people there are very helpful. Overall I give this excellent marker an A+ for withstanding 15 years of abuse.

This marker is incredible. I used it because my finicky impulse went down, and after playing one game with it the automag became my number one gun. I don't feel outgunned at all when I step onto the field. The trigger on it is blazingly fast.
HOWEVER: The guy who wrote the first review said he could not get the hang of the trigger and didn't like it. That's understandable. The trigger takes 3 pounds to pull back, however it doesn't seem like that when you're in rapid fire. The trigger is something you'll either love or you'll hate. If you have the option, I would suggest firing a mag before buying one. If you don't have the option, then I would suggest getting one anyways. The resale value is solid, and it's always nice to have a gun that you can loan to a noob and not have to worry at all about it being messed up.

Owned one for a VERY short time. I bought it, had to fix it, and then ended up selling it. It shot fairly nicely for the brief time I owned it, but I just couldnt get the hang of the trigger. It was impossible to adjust and impossible to shoot quickly. Nice design and reliable (once I fixed it), but not my type of marker.
