Pros: Knowledgeable Staff Great Prices
Cons: Fields can be a little better
Hogan's Alley is a great field. They have two woods ball fields, 1 Hyperball, Spool / Urban field and a speed ball field. I gave a 3 for the fields because I think this is an area they can vastly improve and update. However, Hogans Alley is a well rounded facility. For beginning players most umps will give you advice and help you out. Everyone is friendly there and the flow of the games move smoothly. They are very strict about safety which is always a plus. Also, the store is top notch. They have everything you would look for and more. They're fair priced and are also willing to price match any online competitor. In conclusion hogan's alley is a great paintball facility in Connecticut. You will not be disappointed.

Pros: Great looking xball field and scenario fields
Cons: poor marketing angle and not up to date format.
Paint is $55 a case for 2000 balls of Empire Custom Paint, $60 for Premium and so on and so forth. Great 2012 and updating xball field that always keeps current with the changing PSP layouts...just what i need! Also has 2 great woodsball fields, a challenging scenario field and an old-school hyperball field. Staff is very helpful and knowledgable as well. They are stern when it comes to peoples' safety but thats par for the course. If someone wants to lose an eye let them. The open play on thursdays from 3 to 7 pm in the summer months consists mainly of well skilled speedball players all playing the current competitive xball leagues and will test even the best of players. Those are the pros.

The main con is that it seems like the owner is marketing to birthday parties for kids and bachelor parties. Those are the types of crowds that to me right away say, "hey man, wouldn't it be so cool to go play paintball for a day?" To me its not the right crowd i'd like to see at a paintball field that used to have a factory team that kicked everyones' *** day in and day out. Responses to that might be, "oh well you don't make money off of speedballers, its a saturated market." If so, then why do people do it. After talking to the staff behind the counter and the refs, they all would love to see speedball players cramming the parking lots so full they have to park on the hill. Since the staff doesn't like what they see, it leads me to believe its a leadership issue. I remember playing with a lot of the refs that still work there and many former Hogan's Alley Factory players from back in 2004-2007 years and thinking this will never change, at least not to the point its at now. To apparently abandon reaching out to an entire spectrum of your clientele because your teams started to do bad is a loss in faith, not profits. If you're into paintball for a profit, im sorry but you're a ******* and are in the wrong business.

Bottom line, FANTASTIC FIELDS, FANTASTIC STAFF, poor marketing angle and it seems like they are not keeping up with the times. No pits on the xball field of any kind leads me to believe the facility is not keeping up with the times. PSP is sweeping the competitive paintball scene, ultimately eliminating the NPPL format and a majority of its popularity amongst paintballers i know. Yet anyone reading this should not be scared to go and play here. In fact, please play here and support your local paintball fields, be an ambassador for the sport you love and spread the paintball gospel, we've just gotta start at a grassroots level and it starts with your local fields, like Hogan's.

Pros: good pro shop
Cons: wood chips
good field overall with prob. the best stoor in CT but the playing surface being woodchips makes it difficult for hogans to compete with some of the other fields around. Especially for more serious players who are used to playing on flat, grass, or dirt surfaces, the wood chips dont carry over well to the fields tournament series are usually played on. My 2 cents

Pros: Multiple small fields, reliable refs, handy store
Cons: Only one speedball field
The woodsball fields are impressive, although it would be pretty cool for them to combine the two woodsball fields together for a really big field, and the other fields are cool as well, two old-fashioned hyperball fields and one scenario known as Urban by the local playerbase. However, there is only one PSP/NXL level speedball field. The refs are as reliable and efficient as refs can be (and also nice to new players when I was one), and the store clerks also are very useful for figuring things out about your marker and what goes where. They also have rentals and the one of the few, if not the only, indoor bathroom in the state. Definitely worth looking into if you are looking for fields in the Connecticut/ New England area.

Hogans alley paintball is the best place in CT to play paintball. I bought a few guns from them, Their service is outstanding. They have knowledge in every aspect of paintball. The refs are friendly. Every experience i have had at hogans was a positive one. The paint is fairly priced, and good. I have never had a complaint about paint. Any other competitor chargers an additional $10 or $20 for the same grade of paint. If you like paintball, either recreational or xball. Head down to hogans. You will defiantly have a great experience.

I hadn't been to Hogan's Alley in about 14 years, but I finally got back up there this weekend and had an amazing time. Unlike Liberty Paintball in NY which only offers the absolute worst paint at $70 a case, Hogans allows you to bring your own paint, or choose a paint to buy in their store, and they have a lot of quality paint. Their store is also top notch, with a few tech guys on stand by to help out at any time. The fields are pretty awesome. The supair field is very well put together, only down side is I believe the New England winter weather has taken a bit of a toll and a lot of the bunkers weren't as inflated as they should have been, which made snake play extremely difficult. The other two speedball fields are pretty fun, and their woods field is extremely fun. Hogan's didn't have a woods field the last time I played there, and aren't really known for being a woods ball establishment, however, they knock it out of the park with the one woods field they do have a lot of fun. Overall it was an awesome day; huge mix of players for open play from the families having some post Christmas fun, to the kids who think they're Ollie Lange because their parents bought them a ton of awesome stuff. Lots of fun. The one minor flaw would be the lack of managerial supervision on the refs. All were very courteous and knowledgeable, however, all are typical paintball teens who as soon as the boss wasn't around 6 took a break at the picnic tables, while 2 refereed a game - what this did was basically one game was going of 10 on 10 on a 7on7 field, and 20 people were standing and waiting and yelling at the refs to start another game. Pretty unprofessional, but I suppose it goes with the territory of having teenagers as a majority of your staff. That being said they were still good at their job when they did it, and were very nice dudes to players of all skill levels. Overall, great day, can't wait to go back there again.

Pros: 6 fields, pro shop
Cons: run down airball field, rules were iffy
went here last weekend. Its nice that they have 6 fields to choose from and have a pro shop on site. I didn't like that the refs were extremely lazy and didn't make a single paint check the entire time I was there. They also don't use their mouths to say player is out or player is clean or anything else for that matter. They only use hand signals which coincidentally they didn't even use the right signals to show that a player was out or clean. The airball field bunkers kept deflating and they had to reinflate at least 2 of the bunkers between each airball match with leave blowers. I don't like that they don't allow bunkering OR surrendering. I don't mind those rules but at least one of the two need to be allowed. What am I supposed to do if I cant bunker someone but I cant surrender them either? run back across the field and let them shoot me in the back as I do so? They weren't able to offer me a description as to what I could do if I came up close on someone. They also consider bunkering any shot on a person within 5 yards of them. Its annoying that you have to chrono every single time you enter the field but I understand why its done( scumbags that put an allen key in their pocket and up their fps after chronoing). I don't like the way their access to the fields is set up. all fields are lined up next to eachother like parking spaces in a parking lot. in order to get to the field that your heading to you walk down a path that goes across the back of each field. It is not screened off or anything. So if a game is going on on the field your crossing guess what your probably getting shot as theres a team shooting toward you. Pretty odd set up. simply putting a screen up along the back side would prevent that. Those are my gripes. Would still recommend it as its decent enough to have fun at. Just has some annoying qualities.

I have been going to this field 2001, back when the Maestro was cooking hot dogs when he was not on the hyper ball course. The staff are well chosen and knowledgeable. I learned how to play paintball at this field. Nick who owns the place, still to this day will go out and play, and I have never gotten the vibe from him that he feels he is above anyone else. This is my home field.
