Cons: Refs/social enviroment
Great scenario games! and nice spicy spaghetti dinners, but when it comes to Refs...there terrible all they do is rush you, and litterly feel as if they don't want to be there or are forced to be there when they don't. Management is so- so some times i feel there could be abit more customer service. The fields are great and usly early in season if you show up with 3-4 people you can get a decent walk on...but for the anti social part from other players and refs, if there isn't enough people there thow, you walk away with a taste of thanks for coming and blowing your money come back again, then leaving a great social environment, Like i get from the better fields...remember its not bout a big castle or cool tower field that makes paintball fun.

I'll be straight first off - it's been a few years since I've been able to make it down to Apocalypse, so there may have been changes since I've been there.

This is the field to go to in south central Wisconsin if you want to play with a lot of players! Apoc draws a ton of players in from all over the place, all experience levels, and all types of players from milsim to tournament. The fields are fantastic, and there's plenty of them. One of the big draws was always being able to bring your own paint (no Monsterball!) with a small additional fee. Somehow, I've always wound up missing the spaghetti days... I'm not sure how that happens! On the down side, like many fields, Apoc's once well stocked pro shop is gone. A few times, I've played there with refs who were only able to get us to the field, start the game, and take us back to staging. While it's easy to train a ref to do this sort of "reffing", and cheap to provide one ref for a group of 30 players, it's not really reffing. There's a lot of self checking that has to be done.

Unless the highway department is ripping up the Poynette exit (for Highway CS just off I39), access is about the easiest I've ever found for a paintball field, too.

Cons: None at all,
This is the place where I grew up to learn paintball. If you plan on playing there a bunch I suggest getting a season pass. The good thing about apoc was how there are always people to play against, so I got a lot of experience over the years.

Pros: Course
Cons: Staff
We played once at Apocalypse, and it we won’t go back again. The staff was rude, condescending, and not the least bit helpful. It was almost as if we were an inconvenience (and my group spent several hundred dollars). They refused to help players and were inpatient. On the plus side, the courses were good and well thought out. But that was irrelevant because of the staff. The never paint checked a single person and pretty much just stood on the sidelines all afternoon. Afterwards, every person in my group remarked how poor the Apocalypse staff were. Some of the people in my group were new to paintballing, and this was there first experience. We agreed that we wouldn’t be wasting our money at Apocalypse again. I would have much rather play on a smaller course with better staff.

Pros: Good fields, BYOP (at a price)
Cons: Poor refs, lucrative prices
I've been around this field for a very long time and no matter when it was, the refs have been, and as far as I can tell, will remain to be poor in quality. I remember very vividly a time I was playing, got shot out, went off field, and there the "refs" were flirting with each other. They sit on the side and spectate more than help.

The prices are also a bit out there. It's a higher entry fee and all day air, but that's not what gets to me. What does is the 100 dollars per case they charge for 55/case they have. I understand they're trying to make some money, but that's taking it a bit too far.

I wouldn't recommend this field due to poor refs, high prices, and bad rental gear for renters.

Apocalypse Paintball Overall, I would say this is a pretty good field. Walkons have to buy their paint which is $100 dollar a case which is rediculous, but that is how they make their money.

Cons: refs can be hit or miss, easy interstate access
A southern Wisconsin paint ball institution. 50 acres of paint ball, 1 acre castle, and 12+ fields. A large summer player base can create some crazy fire fights. Also in the summer there is usually enough people for separate walk on groups. A lot of decent rec play to be had here, not much air ball though. Fields get changed around often enough to keep them interesting. pro shop seems nonexistent now, they do rent both pball and air soft. Id recommend a season pass they may be $150 but they are well worth it.

All around a decent place to play.
