I REALLY REALLY REALLY want to like this paintball field. It is close to home. Its reasonably priced. The refs are good. The fields are nice. However, the female manager here knows nothing about customer service and I am consistently being treated unfairly.

Pro Shop experience:

Let me start off with something that happened at their pro-shop. I know this has nothing to do with the field experience but it sets a precedent that I feel needs to be addressed and has some relevance to the field. I just recently got back into paintball from a hiatus and went to their pro-shop to find out more about their field. When I inquired as to why their field doesn't allow full auto she told me that no fields in the Michigan area allow Full Auto, its against insurance regulations. Hell Survivors in Pinkney, Michigan and Killer Paintball (an indoor field that is so close you could almost walk to it) allows all modes of fire as long as you are under their field maximum balls per second. When I asked her if there were any indoor fields nearby (it was winter at the time and her field isn't open unless its over 40 degrees), she told me no.

On another occasion she sold me a used barrel system for my marker. It came with several barrel backs and one front. I noticed that the kit didn't come with a size I needed. She told me that I could purchase them anywhere on-line and if I couldn't find one she would order one for me. This system was discontinued by Empire and getting the right size back is a near impossibility. After trying to find one and coming up empty, I went back to the store and was told she couldn't help me and wouldn't accept a return.

I do not like being blatantly lied to and it has constantly occurred repeatedly with this person.

Field Experience:

The field is located where an old City of Taylor park was once located. Some of the original pavilions and other park features can still be seen. To me the field has a very nice feel. The only thing that could be improved, in my opinion, would be more outhouses. Most fields at least have gender specific units. This field only has one.

If you buy at least 2 bags of the field's paint your field fee is $12. If you bring your own paint the field fee is $25. "All day air" is $5.

On my first outing here I paid my field fee, bought a case of paint (I'm usually very conservative and shoot about 1/2 case) and "all day air". After I paid she asked me where my tank was. I told her I just paid for "all day air". She then told me its for one tank only and they tag the tanks. This should have been better explained or written somewhere. I've been to many fields and when they say "all day air" they mean ALL DAY AIR. I usually gas up my main gun and a back up gun. Having to swap tanks between my main and my back up is somewhat of a pain. She explained that people have abused this privilege in the past (one person buying all day air and filling their friends tanks) and as a result I would have to pay for their infraction.

When I asked where I could chrono my markers, she pointed me in the direction of their chrono but told me that I would have to wait for a ref. I explained that I wanted to see where my guns were shooting before a ref gave me approval just in case I needed to change a spring or replace an o-ring. She told me that NO ONE is allowed at the chrono station without a ref. This is the first field that I've ever been to that would not allow anyone to their chrono / target range without a ref. I have been using chronographs since I was 12 and permanently damaging one is not an easy task. I'm not sure what the problem was here but I waited for a ref.

I returned to my car with the freshly bought case of paint. I opened the case to find that there was a small neon-green streak at the bottom of 2 of the bags. This usually indicates that a ball had broken, so I brought them back up to the register. She explained that what I was seeing was "machine oil" from the factory and this was normal. I told her that my other 2 bags didn't have the "machine oil" in it and it looked like paint to me. She told me that she doesn't sell paint with that type of fill and refused to replace it. This paint had a neon-greenish yellowish fill.

I had to leave the field a little early this day and had only shot about 1/2 a case. Another player asked me why I had bought a full case. I said it wasn't a problem, I'd just shoot it next time. He then explained that I would have to pay the BYOP fee next time. After bringing this to the attention to the manager, it was confirmed that although I had bought THEIR paint, the next time I come I would have to pay the BYOP fee. This is the first field that I have been to that sells you field paint but does not allow you to use it as field paint on a return visit. In the fields favor, it isn't field specific colored paint and there would be no way of knowing if this truly is their paint. However, this should have been better explained, preferably prior to purchasing.

On one occasion I needed an extra barrel bag for a marker I had just purchased. The manager told me that will be $5. I paid her the money and she handed me a new in the bag "RENTAL" barrel bag. Who wants to put a "Rental" barrel bag on a new marker? Not what I wanted. ALWAYS ASK TO SEE WHAT IT IS YOU ARE BUYING HERE BEFORE YOU PAY FOR IT.

More recently I brought my own paint. It was Hell Survivor's field paint. Its a red shell with red fill and its a high quality paint - marbelizer. Before filling my hoppers, I asked if it would be ok to use the red paint. Some fields have a restriction on red fill because they don't want it to look like blood (something I can totally understand). She said she didn't think it was allowed and would have to call her husband. Right in front of me she called him on her cell phone and asked him if it was ok for me to use some other brand of paint. I don't even remember what it was. While she was saying this I told her no no no... its marbelizer several times. She started shooing me with her hand and backed away from me. She hung up the phone and said it wasn't allowed because it leaves stains. I told her this was marbelizer and it doesn't stain. She continued to disagree with me. So I had to buy the field paint (made sure to buy 1/2 case). After selling me the paint she reminded me that I wasn't to use so much as one ball of that other paint. If I was trying to pull something over on the field I wouldn't have asked about the paint in the first place and to be reminded after I brought it to her attention was a bit condescending.

On my last game of my most recent outing I walked directly to the fill station to fill my tank before leaving. I got to within about 200' of the station and she told me that she was giving her refs a break and would announce when they were giving air fills. I told her ok but remained where I was for about 30 secs because I was tired after a long day. She again told me in a much louder voice that they weren't filling now and I WASN'T GOING TO GET IT FILLED. I reiterated that I had heard her. I'm not sure what prompted this gruff response from her but it wasn't appreciated after a long day.

In conclusion. This is a nice little field. Its close to home. The refs are good and the people that come here are friendly. However, it comes at the price of a poor manager. If you aren't careful you will overspend here and most likely be disrespected while it happens. If you read my review carefully maybe you will be able to avoid some of the pit falls that happened to me.

Hey guys! I played at Action Paintball 1 time. When I played there, my group had to miss the first hour because we had the wrong waivers. Once we got up and running, I had a blast on the hyperball field.

Some recommendations:

1) Get better paint! I think I shot stuff I could buy at wal-mart. I would invest in either Heat, Infinity, or some $40 paint as your low-end.

2) For the staging area, it gathers water like no other! I would suggest maybe doing something on the lines of putting grass or possibly cement down!

3) For your hyperball field, I would suggest flattening it a little bit! There were mounds of dirt and I couldnt even get a proper hip slide because the dirt would just hinder sliding!

4) Possibly having 1-2 days a month where you open air-ball to the public! I think that would be really fun!

5) Just keep the general maintanence up on the field. On all the scenario type fields, Trim the tree`s and bush`s so it doesnt look run down!

**Tip** to the players

1) When I went, there was a guy that was walking around and he stated that he was the head ref and wanted to sell me and my group a package. It consisted of:

Entry
Air
Box if Paint

for $50.

I thought it was a good deal and got it. I went to redeem it to find that it was not worthy and had to pay the bring your own paint fee. DO NOT TAKE ANY OF THESE "DEALS", IF YOU DO, TAKE THE GUY THAT IS SELLING THE STUFF UP TO THE COUNTER W/ YOU AND LET THEM VERIFY IT IS VALID!

Cons: Management, Prices, Rules, Paint quality
I played on their team back in the day, Detroit Action division 2 & 3 as well as for Action Factory 5 man, so for a long time none the less. The prices are a little high and one of the owners can have a bit of a temper if the wrong thing is said around her. The fields are great and lots of fun to play on with friends or a big group or people!!!!! Customer service is amazing if dealing with Jimmy.

Has a decent number of fields to play on, paint prices are fair and a decent supply if rental equipment for beginner paintballers. Would recommend to anyone in the London region
