Pros: Great staff, ridiculously cheap, YMCA facility
Cons: HPA isn't available... yet!
Paintball is NNY is having a bit of a resurgence of late, and in no place is it more evident than in Watertown.

The Fairgrounds YMCA is one of the least expensive, cleanliest, friendliest and all around most enjoyable experiences in the entire state. A fully functioning YMCA facility, the site offers an expansive weight room, indoor turf fields and, on weekends, a full reball facility in the gymnasium.

The referees are efficient and knowledgable and Kris, the man responsible for the entire setup, is both a talented tournament player and one of the best all around dudes you'll ever meet. The prices are better than fair, they're downright ridiculous- depending on age and equipment, you'll pay between $5 and $25 to shoot an unlimited amount of reballs for all of open play.

Rentals (Tippmanns) are available as well as CO2 fills, and the field can be reserved for birthday parties/team practices if you call in advance. Open play crowds range from experienced tournament players to first timers who've never shot a marker before in their lives.

All in all a great field and one that definitely deserves a visit if you're in the area.

I played last year in winter 2012 to the beginning of spring of 2013.

They have the reball once every other week when it starts. You see mostly younger kids though but yet still very fun. The new players might not call themselves out from gun hits, but they are still new, just remember that.

If you bring your own equipment, its fine, just keep it lower than 10 bps and at 200 fps. Specially if you have an electric marker, you have a big advantage. Now they do have a HPA fill that is included with entry which is $20. Not too bad, but its for 3 hours only.

Kris who is in charge of it is very talented, do have to agree with a previous review. He told me he is looking to make it bigger. It is a little on the small size, but is perfect for 3 on 3.

But do remember that they do have to clean pick up the reballs every now and then, so if you do have an electric marker, he asks if you can not shoot as much and to work on some other paintball skills. All in all, very good place. Actually looking forward to going back this winter.

Pros: reball indoors
Cons: basketball court field
This is a great field for rec play and the beginer. It's a small field consisting of air ball bunkers on a basketball court, so the field size is a little small and this is compensated with a 220 FPS limit. CO2 fills only are availible since 95% of the players use rental gear. Also, this is more for younger kids to play at than older teens and adults. So if you're one of those that just wants to go out and get your kicks mow'n down the newbs, this is not the place for you. If you want to go out and have fun and help teach new players how to play the game, this is a fantastic place to go. It's $20 to play for a couple hours, this is for rental gear also. It sure beats $7/game for laser tag down the street and also gives you the extra rush with there being something phisically flying at you that laser tag doesn't. I enjoy going there, it's a great break from the old tournament sceen for me and takes me back to when I started playing paintball and just enjoyed playing with my friends.
