Fields: I was fairly satisfied with most of the fields. Although there are only 7, each one has its own flavor. The trenches field is just a haven for head shots, the props were awesome for WWII & Air Force which included airplanes, jeeps, etc you can use for cover. The Castle field is humongous with many dead ends and alleys to ambush or infiltrate. Be careful going down to the pits after the rain though is it gets really muddy there. I played capture the flag and was allowed to respawn and that was extremely tiring! Nothing too special about the fields with the exception of the props. I quite enjoyed being able to go inside the plane and shoot from the windows.
The woods field was probably the least favored as it was too narrow. Having a battle and being sneaky was tough. It was basically a shoot out and winning was 50/50.
Rules: Hopper and marker shots do not count. Didn't really know about parts beyond knees or elbow though. Surrender rule was quoted at 15ft but I didn't even yell surrender. I just shot 1-2 from 10ft away as some of the members of the group were fond of turning and shooting.
Paint Quality: I found the paint to be mediocre for the price ($82 per case). If one bought the paint on-site it would be $100. We decided to stop by the off-site store (1-2 miles away) and bought it for $82 case. They were RPS premiums I believe.
Fortunately, no breaks in the bags but I didn't closely inspect the paint for any dimples.
I was using a .685 bore barrel with a Prophecy loader and I did not experience any barrel breaks. The paintballs shot fairly straight as I was able to get kills from 20-40 ft away. I was pleased by the fill as it was on the thicker side.
Price: I paid $25 for admission and air as I had my own gear. $82 for the case so the total hovered around $100. It is definitely one of the more expensive fields out there.
Safety: Emphasized often. "goggles on" and "barrel plugs" were heard many times after each game. Chrono was not reinforced but who could miss the bright pink tags on the markers.
Services & Facilities: I pack a light lunch (water/granola bars) because I'm there to play. I would rather just eat a little something than miss 30-60mins of play time for lunch. I was glad that our group felt the same way and kept playing throughout the day.
The fill station is a JOKE! One line for compressed air and CO2. At least designate which line is which so it could go a bit faster. At times it was extremely long to get air.
Another that was ridiculous was the fact that tanks had to be around 1000psi to be refilled! So if I had 2,000 left in my 45000 tank I had to play a few more games and risk running out of air in the middle of the game! The attendants gave some BS that filling that early is not good for their lines.
Parking What a small parking lot! We were fortunate to find one of the last spots. I don't know how the other cars were able to park. For the amount of people that were there, there must have been many cars out on the street.
Staff/Refs: Staff was OK. They were friendly and enforced the rules but many were unexperienced in the game or have not played at all. They responded fairly quickly to paint checks but being at the correct spots during critical times were so/so.
During the capture the flag game at the castle field, I was hit on the right side of my lens. I ran to the respawn area and told the ref I would wipe the lens with my own rag instead of his dirty one. I purposely wiped the area with the paint so I could still have good vision on the left side. I asked the ref to be rechecked and he took his rag to wipe the few splatter marks (2-3 drops)on the remaining good side of my lens!!! It basically left me with very limited vision.
Overall: It was a decent day. I had fun because the fields were good with great props. It was definitely something to experience ONCE. For the price and distance (tolls) I would recommend other fields like Liberty paintball. I had fun, but I don't think I will go there again. There are other places that are comparable and with more decent prices/accomodations.

This is my favorite local field in NY. Though technically it falls under the category of Woodsball it only has 1 actually "Woods" ball field. The rest are scenario fields and I might add they are very creative. The largest and most creative being Castle and WW2. Games ar usually very fast paced and full of action. Great for both new players and experienced ones. $25 Admission gets you full day play & air. They offer decent food and snacks. Running water but only Porta-Potties as bathrooms...but thats no real problem for dudes.
Few minor complaints...well of all the times I've been there I only had to deal with lazy refs once. This last time I went the refs were pretty much non-existent. But this is not my usual experience so I can forgive that. I also am not a fan of the "Forced Surrender Rule". Basically what it is is if a opposing player gets within 15-20ft of you and screams surrender you are immediately called out/dead. I think players should be given an option whether they want to surrender or not. FPO and Paint prices are high. On field its $90 a case. They do offer specials though, occassionally, if you buy paint from their store but still it will run you atleast $70.
Added Bonus: Last two years in August they have had a Saturday shooting clinic held by Ollie Lang and Nicky Cuba followed by a huge Castle game with them and other pros. Seems that it may continue to be an annual thing
All in all its a great field to play at. Though the prices per case are high you can see they at least some of it was used to make the place a enjoyable one to play at. I would definitely recommend it to everyone.

As others have said, paint is expensive, and you're forced to buy it. Paint quality was pretty bad also, many hits with no breaking. Un-exploded paint was pretty constant on edges of the staging and nearby fields.
Fun place to play, rotating fields, refs were always close by but lacked strict rulings. Forced surrender rule is at times annoying, specifically when on other side of protection with no support.
Not sure if I'll go back, but definitely recommend if you have the money. Admission 25, all day air 15, rental 5, pods 5 each, paint 90 per case at field, 80 at store. Total for day with 1.5 cases and 2 admission was around 200.

High Velocity outdoor in Coram is my favorite place to play paintball. In 20+ years I have tried many fields in the north east (including Skirmish) and I prefer High Velocity over all the others.
High Velocity outdoor has 7 fields. The lone woodsball field is ok - just not my thing. The other 6 fields are scenario themed. Of the scenario fields my favorites are World War II, Trenches and Castle.
Pros:
The owners/staff. Very friendly owners. Very good reffing.
The fields. See above.
Cons:
Paint. High Velocity needs better paint. The quality SUCKS. For the price of a case ($75 + tax at the shop, I believe $90 at the field), the quality should be better. Either get better paint or lower the price.
I definitely recommend visiting this field. Especially if you are in or near NYC.

Positive : Fields are amazing. Different varieties for everyone that plays. The refs are always on top of there game. Always trying to keep the teams even and always putting safety first. Through out the day you will always here barrel plugs as you leave the field.
Cons : Price. Price. PRICE. Expensive all around.

I enjoy going to High Velocity. I never had a hard time with anyone there. They are very strict about using their own paint which is very expensive. You will not be allowed to walk into the staging area without being checked first. I have no problem with that. I suggest if you are planning to go there stopping at the shop to pick up paint its cheaper at the shop than at the field.
I have left my gear in the tackle boxes many times and they have never been touched but I also always make sure I bring my lock with me. Foods good and reasonable. Porta-Potties are clean as well. I have no complaints other then paint prices but I can look past that.

Definitley the best place I have ever played at. A lot of money was spent making these fields, there not just thrown together in the woods like neighboring Cousins. All the fields are netted off and the grounds are maintained. Good for begginers and experiences players.
