Pros: Really Great for Recball With Friends
Cons: Not so good for Speedball Practice
The first time I played paintball was at HSP years ago. If it wasent for them, I wouldnt be In this sport. I love this place, they have everything you need and want but as I grew older and began to play speedball I have begun to go elsewhere. Its a great place for rec ballers and/or already experienced, but Its a pit pricy for me because of FPO. Would still recommend if in the area.

BIG POSITIVE is the holloween events they have. The Killhouses and mazes are pretty cool - almost don't want to give a review because that means I am going to have to wait that much longer next year in order to get into a Killhouse

HSP is a great place to go if you're new to paintball. It was the second field I've ever been to when I just started and I had a great time. Now that I have seen other fields I don't like HSP as much.

Awesome place to go for your first time, or just to go and play, the fields are nice and the people there are friendly, u will have a great time, only thing to be carefull/ aware of is that no one cleans said fields, and sort you will have to not lean on any bunkers, because they have years worth of dry sticky paint , that is near impossible to remove from gear ....

If t wasn't for this they might get full stars , also field paint only which is crappy and expensive unless your shooting, their "premium" evil paint tho fridays are byop

Pros: Staff, Amenities, Field Themes
Cons: FPO, Field Condition, Rentals
First let me start off by stating my disclaimer. I have yet to play a walk-on game at this park. Iíve had the privilege of playing in a private group with people I know. So, my review is purely based on the Fields and Experiences on the fields as well as the General Park Area.

When we arrive, we are assigned a Referee who escorts the group leader to the various preliminary steps before playing on the fields.

SIDE NOTE: The staff at HSP is pretty good. They are all courteous and friendly. Shout out to Chilly at HSP. You were awesome.

The first stop was the shop to pay for the group's entrance, rental fees and the Field Paint that we all had to buy (may I add that the Ref escorted the group leader to the front of the line). This is the part that hurts. Their idea of a case of paint is 1600 rounds versus the usual 2000. If you are a person who does not need a case of paint for the day, they sell in increments of 400 rounds. The case is the best buy by far. HSP also offers a selection of paint from the basic field paint to Evils. Donít even try bringing your own Evils; the balls have the SC Village logo on them too. Basic field paint is not bad, but it is not great either. We experienced a few bounces, not a lot though. The field case paint cost $45 PLUS TAX. Donít know why they just donít round these prices off. It makes it difficult to collect money from the group.

Once that is complete, we are moved to the safety briefing followed by the issuing of the rental gear. This is another complaint we had. Some of the marker rentals were pretty damn awful. We experienced feed necks zip-tied to the marker (over time, the tie expanded where you could see a space between the gun and the feed neck), faulty tanks, and malfunctioning markers. These issues had to be taken care of and wasted a bit of time. Those of us who brought our own gear were fortunate.

All of these preliminary steps take roughly an hour depending on how fast your Referee moves.

Now we are ready to play. The staff is pretty organized as there is a head Field Controller (for a lack of a better term) who navigates groups, walk-on players, and air-soft players to open fields. This was pretty impressive as we didnít have to wait much to play (couple minutes max). The fields had interesting layouts which made you think twice about where you advanced and where you took cover. The only two complaints we all had were the amount of paintball goop on the ground and the borders of some fields. The goop on the ground was pretty gnarly. It is like stepping into a half hardened slab of concrete. You can easily leave your shoe behind once you step in it. They normally formed on popular sections of the fields. It was nasty. The other complaint was the border of the fields. Three or four of the fields were divided only by caution tape. That would have been fine, but there was not enough space in between the fields. You would see players from other fields facing the same way as your opponents. This made it difficult to determine who was playing on your own field. We were allowed to play a few games at a time and then required to take a break for air fills and to grab some sustenance and drink.

This brings us to the last part I wanted to review. This is the General Area of the park. The area is pretty nice. There were picnic benches, restrooms with running water (no porta-potty), water fountains, lockers, awnings, and private rooms for private groups who wanted to pay an extra $50. These amenities are things you donít think about until you actually experience it and compare it to other fields. A restroom where you can wash your hands is priceless. An awning is an oasis when the weather is reaching the 90s.

Overall, the reasons I would recommend this park are the staff, the amenities, the field props and themes, and the centralized location. This park is close enough from the Valley, the San Gabriel Valley Orange County and LA. I also recommend that you find some local field passes that would cut the entrance fee to a fraction. Craigslist was where I found ours. The price is definitely prohibitive for some. But if you find passes, get a group together and give it a try. You wonít be disappointed.
