Why should I register?
In order to use most the features of this forum, the administrator requires that you register as a member. Registration is free, and allows you to do the following:
  • Buy and Sell gear
  • Post new threads
  • Reply to other peoples' threads
  • Edit your posts
  • Receive email notification of replies to posts and threads you specify
  • Send private messages to other members
  • Set up a 'buddy-list' to quickly see which of your friends are currently online
To register, you will need to specify a username and password, and a valid email address. Entering your email address will not leave you open to 'spam', as you can choose to hide your email address, and messages sent to you via email do not reveal your address to the sender in any case. (To verify this, you can try sending an email message to another user once you've registered.) The final part of the registration process will be sent by email, so ensure that the email address you provide is valid and working.

You must be 13 years old or older to register on PbNation.

Cookies are used to enable functions such as showing whether or not a thread or forum you are viewing has new posts since your last visit, or to automatically log you back in when you return to the site after being away for a while. When you register, you will be given the option to 'Automatically login when you return to the site'. This will store your username and password in a cookie, stored on your computer. ASM mini-FAQ

How do I sign up for ASM?

What benefits do ASMs get?

How do I see when my ASM runs out?
Click here and look at the expiration date at the top.

I paid with echeck and I still don't have a tag. Check your paypal history regarding the transaction. It will show you when the echeck is supposed to clear. Once it clears you should get the tag and the benefits. If it did clear and you still aren't ASM, get the transaction ID or Subscription ID number and email it along with your paypal email address to Customer Service.

I paid with credit/debit card or funds in the account and it hasn't shown yet.
These should process right away. Check your paypal account and make sure it went through. If it did, get the transaction ID or Subscription ID number and email it along with your paypal email address to Customer Service.

I paid twice or got charged twice.
Make sure it actually went through twice. If it did, get the transaction ID or Subscription ID number and email it along with your paypal email address to Customer Service.

What does it mean when it says it is a subscription?
It means that your paypal account will automatically sign you back up for a subsequent year after the year is up. Please make sure you have the funds so you don't get hit with any fees from your bank. If you don't want it to auto-renew for next year, look below. If you do want to sign back up and it doesn't do it automatically, then you can manually sign up and still get your 2nd year tag.

How do I stop the auto-renewal of the supporting member fee?
1. Log into your Paypal account.
2. Click the My Account tab.
3. Click the History tab.
4. Click the Details of the subscription in question.
5. Click Cancel Subscription.
6. You have successfully canceled the subscriber's subscription.
You will have to select a date range that covers your original transaction and filter for subscriptions.

How do I look up my ASM subscription in Paypal?
Here is a direct link to access your PbNation subscriptions in paypal.

I received this message: "The payment for your subscription to Annual Supporting Membership Subscription failed because you do not currently have a back-up funding source for your instant transfer payment. PbNation, LLC has been notified of this failed payment. We will try to make payment again on (some day in) 2007. To correct this problem, you must update your funding source to be an eCheck or a credit card."
Change the back-up to a debit/credit card, then it will renew automatically on the date set or simply wait for the ASM to expire. Once it does you will be emailed and you can easily subscribe again via a link in the email.

I don't have paypal, how do I become ASM?
On the first page when you are redirected to paypal you will see, "Don't have a PayPal account? Use your credit card or bank account (where available)." Click there.

If I don't renew what happens to my added benefits?
They expire with your membership. So please, use your Gold Ups and B/S/T Trusts. The ASM tag goes away, your ability to search goes away, your Gold ups and B/S/T Trusts go away. You even lose your unban. Your avatar will stay 100 by 100 as long as you don't change it.

ASM 2nd Year FAQ

I still only see a 1 year tag even though paid for my 2nd year:
1) Try clearing your browser's cache:
Click here for instructions on how to do clear your cache.
2) Check and see if your subscription is active for the 2nd year: Click here to check.
3) Are you sure you didn't pay with an echeck? Check your paypal history of transaction. You have to wait for an echeck to clear which can often take over a week.

I didn't mean to sign up for a second year and I just got charged.
ASM is a subscription. That means it will renew until you cancel it in Paypal. If you want to cancel the subscription:

I didn't mean to sign up for a second year and I want a refund.
First, cancel the subscription. See above. Then, get the transaction ID or Subscription ID number and email it along with your paypal email address to Customer Service.

Do I keep my B/S/T Trust and Gold Ups from last year if I haven't used them?
Gold Ups do roll over. However, the old B/S/T Trusts program is no longer active. Current ASMers get a discount on the new BST Trusts.

If I sign up for a 2nd year, do I get everything again?
You only get one unban ever. However, you do get all the other ASM features like more Gold Ups.

How do I look up my ASM subscription in Paypal?

I didn't renew ASM and I lost my Gold ups. What happened?
You lose all of your ASM features if you don't sign back up.

How can I change the information in my profile?
It is your responsibility to keep the information in your profile up-to-date. You should especially ensure that your email address is kept current. You can alter any of the fields in your profile, except your username. Once you have registered your username, it becomes yours for life.

Edit your profile here.

What is the signature or sig for?
After you have registered, you may set your signature (also called a sig). This is a piece of text that you would like to be inserted at the end of all your posts, a little like having headed note paper.

Then you will have the option to include your signature on any posts you make. If you have specified a signature, then the forum will automatically append your signature to any messages you post. You can disable signatures on a per-post basis by un-ticking the 'Show Signature' checkbox when you compose your message.

You may turn the signature on and off on posts you have already made by editing the post and altering the state of the 'Show Signature' option.

You can set your signature by editing your profile. Please read the signature rules in this FAQ before setting up your own signature.

I lost my password, what can I do?
If you forget your password, you can click on the 'Forgotten Your Password' link on any page that requires you to fill in your password.

This will bring up a page where you should enter your registered email address, and an email will be sent to that address instantly, with instructions for resetting your password.

What do I do if my account has been hacked?

It's not possible for someone to hack PbNation and get your password. However, it may be possible for someone to guess your password, especially someone you know. If you see posts you did not make, change your password right then! Then search to find inappropriate posts you did not make and delete them right away. You might have already been reported, so this does not guarantee that there won't be repercussions.

More and more of you are logging into PbNation from your schools or public computers and leave yourself logged in. You are responsible for your account, and that means logging out when you are done and taking responsibility for what may happen if you don't.

Your account is your responsibility. DO NOT ask for mercy when you know what you need to do to protect your account.

How do I add a custom status to my profile? (the text below your avatar)
You can specify the text you want to display by editing your profile and entering the text you want in the Custom User Text field.

How do I get a picture under my username?
These small images are called Avatars. They are displayed below your username on all posts that you make. There are two kinds of avatars: those provided by PbNation and those that you upload yourself.

Please select an avatar that best describes your personality and change it as often as you like. Remember, people will get to know you by your avatar, so you might want to keep it for a long time.

We have also enabled custom avatars, which allows you to upload an avatar image from your computer.

Swear words (even partially censored swear words) are not allowed in avatars on PbNation and will result in an infraction.

For more information about avatars, click here.

What are the buddy and ignore lists?
The buddy list is used to keep track of the friends you have made on this forum. By going to your "Open Buddy List" in "Quick Links" menu of the navbar, you'll be able to see which of your friends are currently online and send them a private message. Adding people to your buddy list also allows you to send private messages to multiple forum members at the same time. You may add any member of the forums to your buddy list by viewing their profile or by going to "Buddy / Ignore Lists" in your "User CP".

Ignore lists are used for those people whose messages and posts you wish not to read. By adding someone to your ignore list, messages posted or PM'd by these individuals will be hidden when you read a thread and you will not receive their Private Messages. You will still see that they posted, but you will have to click to even view the post.

How do I choose a username?

We generally recommend you don't create a username that has something to do with your age, team or a paintball marker. All these things change over time so they might not be appropriate in a year or three. Remember, we can't change usernames so if you ever want to change it, you'll have to create a whole new account.

You may create a username that has a paintball company name in it. However, if you do not work for that paintball company, please do not create a user name that is the company name itself (example: Smart Parts or Kee Action Sports). If you do create a username that is an existing company name, you may have to give up that username if you are posting in such a way that makes people think you work there or if the company requests it.

Please do not choose a username that could potentially be offensive in any way to other users. If you do create a username that is offensive, you may lose your account once a moderator notices it. Please do not create a username that mimics another user or is even a close approximation of another user. This is especially true with local players or banned users. Anything potentially racist will make you instantly unwelcome on the site. Names of a sexual nature are not appropriate since we allow kids as young as 13 to create accounts. If your username is inappropriate in any way, it will be banned and you will lose everything associated with that username.
