How do you guys like the switch masks? how is thier protection and hows the bounce factor on them? my flex-7 ize was stole not to long ago and im in the market for something new. also did you guys paint your frames or did you buy them?

The switch masks are awesome and I definitly catch some bounces off the face sometimes. Some of the players on the team paint the frames

I used Krylon Fusion. SLIGHT sanding on the part you wish to paint, as well as back masking, and thats it.

krylon spraypaint and do a little sanding on the area you are painting before hand

I just wanna say I was the 1st on LEGACY to have sack and Cut my Proto Goggles & use them in a tourny. The top ear thinigies catch paint and ever since they have been gone Numerous bounces eversince! Anyhow... I not gonna lie to you, I used to hate protos cause of the way they looked and so forth but have Grown to love them cause the Lenses come off sooooo QUIK and when u cut the mask they LOOK soooooo DANGEROUS!

its true about the ear pieces...cutting them=bounces

Proto mask are Just as comfy if not more as the Flex, you can make them Agg too.

That was cut a bit and painted.

I used a JT mask for years and liked it.. I then went to the DYE Invision and felt it was the absolute best mask I had ver used.. It fit my face like a glove... Then when PROTO came out DYE approached me and asked if Legacy would be their PROTO Flagship team.. My first reaction was..(I had to use a different mask) & ( I had to use a different gun )
To my surprise the Switch mask fit great! The description is that it fits a man's face better.. at least this is the joke.. I covers more of the cheel & chin areas.
When running in the past my JT mask would wobble up and down and I had to constantly tighten the straps. The DYE Invision just never moved thus fit like a glove.. To my surprise the Switch mask does not wobble at all either.. I can jump..Dive..slide and the mask just stays put.. It did come off one time during a slide but it was the water tha pushed the mask off.. This was at the LA Open and diving head first in 12 inches of water.
Without a doubt hands down the best part of the mask is the lens and the ease to change it! NO MORE THUMB FATIGUE! No screw drivers or any kind of tool needed.
The lens are so easy to change...
Try it you'll like it..
Now if they would just design a mask that will clean itself! perfect.

Why would it be a pain to put it back together?

Proto's have like the quickest lense change out of any mask I've worn.

You can strip everything down, wipe your lense off, and put it back together in under a min with practice.

And you dont even have to worry about cleaning it, just putting it back together.

Its not really hard to cut your mask? Basically jus go around it evenly. If you don't know how then your pretty retarded. What I did was burn the rubber after I cut it around so now its even and doesn't look cut.

How many coats of paint you guys use and where can I get this certain type of paint? Home Depot or a local department store? Whats the general price.

I just did a primer coat and a color coat, worked great.

I used 3 coats, just to make sure I sprayed every little crack. I got the paint from Michaels, and it cost a whole $5.

no, w/ fusion do not sand, it goes on fairly thin so if you sand it will show up rough, it will stay w/o sanding

i dont think the invision will work right because the main base of the goggle runs all the way up to the top of the lense, up by the front of the strap, so its all one piece, i dont think it will cut as nicely as the proto, if anybody has any ideas, let me know

Theres my mask's. My proto dosnt look like that power ranger blue. Its darker but i guess the light of my digi makes it come out like that i dont know why. I got bored and decided to do my Invision also i used a red coat twice, and then slightly went over it with a gold color to make it have a glitter/shine effect.

Damn, I think thats the first invision I've seen with a painted frame. Looks dang nice too. If only the lenses on the invision werent such a motherf***ing pain to put in and out I'd be painting mine as soon as I get off work!

Can the Proto goggles take the JT soft ear mod like the Invisions and Vforce goggles can?

i didnt take off the lense off my invision. I took blue tape (like what contractors use) and just taped up my whole lense. I used a razor blade to make sure the lense was completly covered. Then if there was a little bit of paint on the lense i actually took a nail filer to clean it all up. Looks better in person the pic makes it look orange but its damn nice. I took it out to the field today and got lots of compliments on my mask that sits in my gear bag all day lol.

I just cut and painted my Proto Yesterday! Looks awesome! I used those curved hoby scissors to cut mine and it was easy and took about 10 mins. Here is a tip to cutting it: Get one of those white-out pens and draw the cutting line when the mask is fully assembled. Take the mask apart and then you have a nice white line to cut.

BTW: I painted the frame with red fusion...Looks nice! Now I just need to get a clear lense.

i used Krylon Fusion on my invision. Just had it lying around as well. Red Krylon Fusion and then a gold spray paint of some sort i cant find it right now.

I dont think proto makes soft ears, I could be wrong.
You can mod the mask with JT sort ears though.
