Well if any of you have played or lived around central Virginia, near Lynchburg, you may have at least heard of a field called Splatter Mountain on Candlers Mountain. This field has been run by Thomas Road Babtist Church who has held a few tournaments in the past and the occassional open day. Now myself and two teammates found interest in this field and have requested management responsibilities of the field. We will be meeting with the current management to throw around ideas on how we might start up a weekly open day at the field. If the meeting goes well, we will begin our plans of strengthening the quality of the field and setting up how we will be going about running open day games that will not only please our patrons, but also provide everyone with an exciting and fun day at the field.

If you've ever been to the field, you'd have noticed the incredible paint prices, $35 a case!! You cant beat that price anywhere around central VA! This price is not likely to change. We do however expect to charge a small sum for all day air, not likely to be more than a couple bucks.

We are strongly considering offering consessions like food and drinks. We will be deciding whether or not to set up a speaker system for music during game play and to make announcements. If attendance is strong, we will also consider setting up promotional things such as raffles for gear, paint, etc. Also, we will be working to provide tournaments as often as possible.

The fields, if you've ever been there, are great. There are two 3-5 man hyperball fields that are on level ground, WITH GRASS and protective netting. We will be certain to keep these fields in perfect condition and if all goes well, we hope to eventually be able to fund an airball field. We also have one woodsball course that I have yet to play but I've heard that it is very excellent. We also plan on building 2 new fields on the property.

But all of our success rides on you, the players, so if you live in the central Virginia area, please, stay posted and if we are given the go ahead to start our project, we will be posting the date of the first open day. We hope to bring you all a great place to play, whether you're a first timer, or a seasoned tourney player. We believe in fairness on the field so don't freat about sandbaggers seeking to walk over the new players. We will try our hardest to provide a great time for all.

Also, we are seeking players who are interested in working at the field, whether it be reffing or consessions or air fills. Just PM me and I'll give you a contact number.

soudns like a great idea to me Dan

Well I appreciate Dan doing this for me and mike. Like he said, we have a meeting with the current owners and a few others such as there youth pastor and financial advisor. We have great things plan for the field, and I'm hoping to leave the field saturday with keys in hand. Me and Dan have left me in charge of this indevor but none the less, it's a group effort. Just something we felt a majority of the ballers in the area wanted and something we wanted to.

We are looking to open asap, there will be good "trained" refs, food, snacks, a little music, co2 and hpa, and of course rentals for anyone new coming out to try the sport.

We will focus a lot on fairness, and safety. These fields are quality and not just pieces of wood and crap we had laying around. The fields were good before we had the idea to do this, but now were hoping to go a long way.

As far as whats to come later this summer, that's really up to you guys, the players. I can't promise anything just yet, because we have a lot of talking to do to get this rolling. I can promise that we will have fun and you will be happy.

We are looking to do a lot of things, like get a nice stagging area, and a tent or shed for us and the other refs to run everything out of, might just be a big tent and 6ft tables to start out on, just depends on what all the church is willing to do to help us out on this. I will be asking for volunteers from LU and the church to help clean up, build and maybe even help out on the first few open days. As far as them reffing, I am looking down on that fact because I want guys who know what there doing and mike dan and myself can trust.

It will not be a pick and choose indevor like it is at PFAG, the ref's will not be like they are at PFAG, and it will be an overall better experience than PFAG.

I'm hoping everything goes good, and I'm hoping for the local players to leave some feedback on what they think, and what kind of ideas they might have.

As far as anyone interested in reffing at the field, please leave a post, or contact me or dan on the nation through pm, we can't just say yes you can ref, we have to approve everyone, and everyone will have a little thing to go through, just to make sure they know exacly what there doing, there will also be a ref roster, and if the refs can't work the days there schedualed... then they need to call me , mike, or dan 3 days in advance. We don't know if we will be able to pay at first, and we mearly going on the fact that it will all be volunteer, but you have to understand that we can't run the fields by ourselves, and we are counting you the players, and the people interested in reffing...

Hopefully this works !!!

Thanks again Dan

-Corey

Well it looks like we have a lot of local support, just by talkin to guys around school and all. So hopefully we'll get a huge first turnout and be able to keep this thing up. So remember, if you're around the Lynchburg area and need a qualitly field to play at, slip by Splatter Mountain and help us get this thing off its feet.

If you can make it we'll throw you on the roster. But we would still strongly appreciate any volunteers who would like to help out. As far as reffing goes, me Mike and Core are gonna have a training day just to see who can make the calls and who's willing to get dirty to pull a player.

Hell yea buddy... me and mike come from tourney scene and we know what cheating looks like, and you don't have the balls to rip someone off a field your not reffin

sandbaggers and cheaters will no be tollerated, it will be looked at like taking your mask off at pfag.... result in sitting out a few games

rules will be posted on the first open day and i expect everyone to follow them... safety is the key word guys

they won't be exessive but will be important.

thanks guys for posting keep it coming, if you have any ideas on things we can do or add to or things you like to see let us know

Nematurkey13
03-03-2005, 07:19 PM
dude we should get a few people for like a private thing and get some people to play or get the church to get a private day so we can have training that would be kool i dont normally get to ref often accasionally in practice or at PFAG but i think this would be kool ...

Pat

03-03-2005, 07:21 PM
it will be a senario thing... we will have people on the field playing and we will walk around with each ref and see whats going on, i want people wiping, and cheating on purpose, and you'll be shown what cheating looks like, hopefully it's a sunny day, and be prepared to get muddy and dirty :D

Nematurkey13
03-03-2005, 07:23 PM
i understand the cheating but sandbaggin i dont understand if it is open day i dont htink yit mater but i dunno what you are talking bout but feel free to correct me

GoGGeD3
03-03-2005, 07:26 PM
i have problem with sandbaggin... ie rappin the little kids... it's so wrong when you want the sport to expand... ie. teams will be seperated evenly and accordingly.

sorry to throw it in there but i feel pfag doesn't do a good job of it, and the vets just pick on the new kids to much

Well safety is always goin to be our number one priority, but as long as everyone can stay safe then we will do all it takes to get people coming back a second time. We hope to make it more enjoyable than other fields and since we plan on running multiple games at once, you will be sure to get more bang for your buck.

Everything we need... including gun prices, paint, and rental fees, and what things the refs can do, and what were not putting up with hope this works guys, a lot is riding on this and I just hope i don't get my balls chopped off on saturday and they like what were giving them

1st open day is march 19th so this coming weekend we are going to try and have a ref training day, prolly saturday. get your guns, and your equipment cleaned up and if your coming i need to know...

email me at ggarciaparrass87@aol.com

or get in touch with mike and or daniel

we will probably meet at around 11 don't tell us your going to be there and not show...

they even said that this is a depending factor... on how many people come march 19th if they will start doing it everyweekend and let us head it up... so if your going to ref, you have to come to this training day and if you want a new field to play at you better come march 19th !!!!

Alright guys, first Open day is saturday March 19th, Ref training day is saturday March 12th. Any of you guys who want to a reffin job, you gotta be up at the field before 11am. Bring your gear ie: mask and playing clothes and marker.

Everyone try hard to make our first open day because the decision on whether we'll be running a regular open day every weekend will depend on how many people we get to the first one...
