they're using hoppes 9 gun oil in the manuals... pretty much a synthetic oil will do. make sure it's non corrosive.
I reccommend kc-trouble free or hoppes no. 9

Vaseline is not lithium grease. `i've only heard of people using lith on the bolt. `i used some vaseline on my cocker, but only on the trigger plate.

We use PMI oil for the bolt O-rings, and White Lith grease on the hammer and its rings. Works great

And just while I'm asking what should be lubed up just the bolt or does the hammer/ram lower part that screws out need to be taken out and lubed up as well.

never get to carries away by wanting to over lube. lightly coat rings, that all.
bo not lube a center flag reg, exept for the piston ring, it will get messed up if you add oil in the bottom line to cycle through

Boy, I would think thicker lube like vaseline and lithium grease would slow down the cycling of the gun.

Only if you use white lith REALLY heavy will it screw up your ram and/or reg piston. A light coat is fine
